This is EXACTLY what my narcissistic husband had been doing within our family! I don't know how long it has been going on, but after installing a voice recorder app on my phone, and "forgetting" to take it with me when I ran errands, I discovered what he was doing. The lies he told he to pit our children against each other, and against me, were shocking and reprehensible. Suddenly, I knew why there was so much jealousy, insecurity, and anger between my children. I kept it to myself, while continuing to record him when I left the house, and the things I heard made me sick to my stomach. It was hard to wrap my mind around, he WANTED discord, jealousy - he sowed the seeds of insecurity, and then he carefully tended his evil garden, in order to maximize the hurt and drama. It has all been so bizarre and unreal, as though we are living a terrible Lifetime Network movie. I am so grateful to you Michelle, because of course, my first inclination was to gather my children, and explain the truth. But, I knew a couple would not be ready to hear it, and I would only cause more harm to them. One by one, as I continued grey rock with him, began to question his lies, and came to me with questions and worries. Today, just a year later, my daughters are much closer to each other, to me, and to their brothers. It had been incredibly painful for all 4 of my kids (18-30), from the youngest ones still at home to the oldest who has gone no contact. You have guided me throughout this ordeal, sometimes the sole calm and rational voice in the storm. Unknown to him, we are making plans to get out of here, and I know I will continue to lean on you as we make our way and heal. From the bottom of my heart - Thank You! <3

100% accurate. My narcissistic ex completely ruined my relationship with one of my (now ex) best friends of 25 years with triangulation. I tried to explain it all to him, but he wouldn’t listen. Now he’s in her web of deceit. Yeah...good luck with that...

My narc would play a big joke with the kids whenever he wanted to get a pet (including 2 goats) and not tell me so it looked like I was going to be the bad guy and say no to the idea. I’ve always wondered if that caused them sadness and confusion that I couldn’t be asked or trusted to have an opinion. He smirked every time I found out after the deal was done (and twice when I found out from the owners) and I’m sure he got off on the fact that he was pitting his kids against their mother. The stupidest thing is he hates lots of pets and he’s not around to look after them half of the time due to work commitments away from home. This also makes you feel that you’re just his housekeeper and pet minder when you add in the rest of the narc behaviour. My healing on this one is moving out and he has to pay someone to look after them. Great video, Michele!

He used this tactic to put a wedge between HIS support system and myself. I had moved out of state to be with him. And he made it so that they didn’t like me. He was constantly doing that. Constantly trying to make me look bad.
