I worked as an EMT in California and got paid less than fast food workers. I made $17.20/hr.

Any fast food combo that costs more than $10 is a ripoff.

Raising the wage didn't fix the high cost of living issue. Rent is too damn high. Fix the real issue. Also, 1 in 3 American eat fast food everyday!? WTF

I just crockpot at home, cheaper in the long run. 40$ makes lunches for a week.

A fast food job is not a career for an adult…it’s a starter job for young people.

Customers go to fast food joints for the convenience and low price…take out the low price and soon no fast food joint will exist..

Something is wrong when flipping burgers pays more than risking your life as a EMT/PARAMEDIC

The governor pushed the raised minimum. Wage tondo 2 things. Gain tax revenue and shut down fast food places.

I think our society has had an unwritten contract that working at fast food was an entry level job for youngsters that got their work permits so that they could get their feet wet in the labor market while earning a little spending money for those new shoes, a night out to the movies or to save up for that first car. The oldest person working were the shift managers. Fast-forward, we now have 30-50 somethings with full blown 3-4 kid households that are demanding pay equating to jobs that require entry level skilled trades, some certification, or that may be mentally or physically demanding.

Franchises make money on royalty. They're only hurting businesses owner who owns franchises

When I entered the work force decades ago fast food was considered a starter job. Not a career, a way to pay the rent or raise a family. It was there to put money in your pocket while you go to school to learn a trade or a profession. Getting paid higher wages to do a task that you can do at home is backwards.

The problem is that businesses want to surpass what they made the previous year. They still profits even with the minimum of $20 hourly. Again they just want to see a higher number. They are not happy with what they already made. They are not humble and thats the biggest problem of them all.

Fast food workers will be replaced by robotics and kiosks.

Since the industrial revolution, employers have always looked for ways to cut labor costs by using machines to replace human labor. So this new push towards automating low skilled fast food work would have happened, whether the minimum wage was $7.25 per hour or 3 times as much. All the minimum wage hike is doing is accelerating the process.

Automation has been happening for decades, and it's coming everywhere, even to places like rural Mississippi with $7.25 an hour wages
