“Osteo” stands for bones and “porosis” stands for the little hole in bones, the reason for this is the fragility of bones. There are many symptoms of osteoporosis, including reduced grip strength, frailty, stopped posture, reduced overall health, slow movements, cramps, etc. There’s a myth that this disease only happens in old people only but people who have many other certain diseases like diabetes, cancer, and are in post covid stage etc., can also develop osteoporosis. Other than that daily life routines like alcohol consumption, and smoking is also the major reason for weak bones and can cause osteoporosis.
Some people think that just drinking milk can fulfil the requirement for sources like protein, calcium and other vitamins and prevents osteoporosis but that is not the case. As we all know that calcium is the best source for bones but only calcium cannot fulfil the need of bones. For strong bones, we need many other nutrients, including protein diet and vitamin D. Some micronutrients are also important for bones like magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin C etc.
