I worked with a man who had double knee replacements. Told me to never get old and to always wear good shoes because even after the surgery he's still in pain everyday

I was 39 when I had double knee replacement surgery at the same time. The doctor asked me do you care if I ask you what you have done for a living I said worked for Eaton corporation since I was 18 and you didn’t have a choice you worked 6 and 7 days a week 10, 12 hours a day on concrete. Concrete is a killer! I’m 10 years out from surgery and haven’t had any problems thank God. ❤

I’m a carpenter and wish I studied medicine. I would have been a great surgeon

I’m an octogenarian. 20 years ago my knee doctor said I had to have my knees replaced. I told him he could do that 5 minutes after I was dead. Through very careful rebuilding via excellent nutrition and exercise I am now walking 1-2 miles a day. I can’t keep up with my wife but I can walk without pain but some discomfort occasionally which I stop ASAP. With new discoveries I have hope of full use of both knees in my future!

Stem cells could be used to grow cartilage. This needs to start before full damage has occurred.
Pets in the UK have been given stem cells into knee joints to prevent further damage.

I did a total knee replacement in 2018, on both my knees, my X ray, showed bone on bone, it was very painful. I am fine now. I had a good Surgeon. I give thanks to God for my healing.

My dad a TKR. His knee had been messed up since he destroyed it in 1960 playing high school football. He tore EVERYTHING in his right knee. He had surgery immediately after the initial injury and another sometime in the ‘80s. It was so bad, it actually kept him out of Vietnam when he was drafted. After he had the TKR, when he was 60, his pain was so much better. He would have had the left knee replaced, too (due to decades of over compensating on that side), but he passed away last year at the age of 79. It’s kind of a scary surgery because they basically cut your leg off, but my dad said it was well worth it.

Healing from my left knee replacement currently. Had the right one replaced this past april. The left knee this past July. End stage arthritis in both knees. Had been told for years to lose 100 lbs before the surgeons I spoke with would do the replacements. I was inactive because I couldn't stand or walk. Could bike, though. Anyway, I had lost 60 lbs when the pandemic hit- no elective surgeries for 2 years. I gained the weight back, but still exercised daily. Spoke with my current surgeon, Dr. Anderson from Allina Ortho, who said you'll move more and better after the surgeries, so "no worries about your weight". I weighed 270 lbs at that time. My recovery was easier in my right knee. My left knee is being fussy and slow. My pain level is up and down but less each day. Still, best thing I ever did. I have flat surfaces instead of worn-out points for knees and stability, I am walking every day now.

I hope I never have a main bone replacement. God bless anyone that has to go through this.

I've had both knees replaced, and wouldn't recommend having it done, to my worst enemy. The pain and recovery is horrific.

Surgeon told me it would take a year for recovery. He was right. This is a major, major surgery and you should follow doctors instructions down to the letter.

RN here. Had to pack horrible holes infected from failed replacement surgeries. You don't want it if you can avoid it. 😱
