Why Pregnant Women Should Be Vegan

There are so many reasons to adopt a whole food vegan diet before, during, and after pregnancy!

🌱 VEGAN BENEFITS

👭 MOMMY SOLIDARITY
Dairy cows are exploited as mothers
• they are forcefully impregnated, and their young are most often stolen from them at birth -- cows can only produce milk after having a baby, and dairy farmers keep them pregnant in order to keep the milk coming.
• of course, the calves are the ones who are supposed to drink the milk, so they have to be separated from their mothers at birth so as to not drink the profit. males often end up in the cruel veal industry, while females suffer the same fate as their mothers.

speaking of dairy cows….

I have a 13 year old and when I was pregnant with her, I experienced severe morning sickness. I also was a meat eater. After giving birth I had problems with fibroids and endometriosis. My doctors advised me I may never have kids again. After having fibroid removal surgery in 2011 and doing a lot of research, I decided to go vegan. Years later I never had any fibroids grow back and had my endometriosis under control. Through the grace of God I’m pregnant with my second child and it’s a whole new experience! No morning sickness at all. Feeling blessed. Thanks for sharing ❤️ Loving your videos.

I went vegan when pregnant with my son (that was 6 years ago). I had way more energy once I cut out the animal foods, zero morning sickness, and did tons of walking until our homebirth. In terms of milk supply, I wanted my body to focus on producing milk, not breaking down hard-to-process meat or dairy. I had a magical homebirth, and made enough milk to feed my boy and donate. Thank you for what you do Jenné, and for sharing, because we are all learning.

Thank you for making this video!! I'm having an amazing vegan pregnancy. My doctor said my nutrition and baby look great. I'm just tired of people thinking I'm being irresponsible... When I'm actually being way healthier. Hope you inspire more people! Keep it up.

My vegan pregnancy was wonderful. I have two older children I need to keep up with and I was able to ride my bike until I was 32 weeks, we went swimming all summer and I had energy to walk everywhere else as we don't own a car. I lost so much weight as I was not vegan prior to but vegetarian. The baby was very adamant about no dairy. I never vomited with my other children this baby wouldn't allow me to keep anything but a vegan diet down. I am grateful as it renewed my love of cooking. During my healing journey to get pregnant before my 35 birthday I learned a lot about nutrition because I didn't want anymore synthetic products in my body.

I ate loads of cheese growing up and one of my favorite snacks was chocolate milk. My breasts started coming in the fourth grade and I also started my period that year! Talk about EARLY! Come to find out, I have severe endometriosis as well as other reproductive issues. I went plant based just shy of three years ago and have noticed quite a change.

Just found out I’m pregnant this week (5.5 weeks). As soon as I found out I looked through your pregnant and vegan playlist. I’m so glad you decided to share your journey. It makes me less anxious as to if I’m doing things right. Looking forwards to more of the “what my vegan baby eats” videos! I’m taking notes.

Congrats on your pregnancy. You look amazing and you're glowing. You brought up a lot of good points about hormones in meat and dairy which is why I'm converting from the standard American diet to plant based. As a mother myself I'm appalled by what I learned about the dairy industry. Dairy wasn't hard for me to give up first. I've always felt sick after eating dairy products, now I know why. I'm going through menopause and since going vegan its been a lot easier to deal with the symptoms. I sleep better, I have more energy and fewer hot flashes. I'm convinced its because of not eating animal products and their hormones which is why I researched veganism in the first place. So even though you're on the other end of the life cycle, you're definitely on the right track. Thanks for sharing your pregnancy experience.

Your research got me thinking going vegan would be good for my mental health.

I was a complete wreck 3 years ago when I was going vegetarian, found out we were expecting, and started craving meat. From week 6 to 16 I had awful morning sickness. All I could keep down was crackers, water and the broth boiled off from beef that I half cooked 😷
Later on I craved spinach, green smoothies and fruit, broccoli, ice cream, pizza and meat, usually all at once and in that order lol....thankfully my daughter has been plant based since birth, and I got hubby to go vegan too. I'm retraining myself again. I just keep falling off, mainly due to laziness. Much love and well wishes from Grenada ❤💚💛

When I was pregnant with my first child, I literally was repulsed by meat. It all smelled like it was raw and rotten! I ate vegetarian during that time. He's 7 now, and he is very healthy. Same with my second pregnancy! I didn't even know what a vegan was during that time. Now we eat a fairly balanced plant based diet, but I wonder how much less stressed I would have been if I had known how to eat during that time.

I had my son 2 years ago and was eating whatever I wanted..had a great pregnancy but a near death experience with eclampsia during labor..and longterm high blood pressure. After that I decided to take control and change my lifestyle to a vegan plant based diet. Lost over 100 lbs and wanted to lose more but now I'm pregnant again with twins. I am hoping my lifestyle changes help me with this high risk pregnancy as I am still over weight and dealing with trauma from my first pregnancy. Thanks for sharing ❤️

I’m so glad you commented on the dairy cow moms and babies. That was so touching and I think about it ALL the time. ❤️❤️

This video is encouraging because
1. You're intelligent and researched in the information you pass on.
2. You're black! Representation Matters
3. You're a woman! Representation Matters!
3. You're natural! Representation matters!
4. You're vegan!

Question are you gluten free as well? I'm 5 weeks pregnant with my 4th child and about 3 months ago I didn't shake my high blood pressure after having my 3rd baby so I started the Daniel Fast for 3 weeks. Which has led me to trying a vegan lifestyle during my pregnancy and beyond

Even though I haven't had a baby and I'm not pregnant, this information is so important because I have a big family and food has been an issue with mental state, health and understanding how to change. I've watched the health state of my siblings and I am understanding more and more about them and of course myself. My mother and father also had me observing and questioning why things were happening and as I grow as an adult this woke me up. I understand through food on a level to why behaviours/mental and physical change is controlled. Thank you for helping me look further past meat and to now make my mind up to cut fish out for good. I want healthy future children and their future children to live a better life with a positive and less troublesome start.
