🏃🏻Some counter-rotation is needed in the arm swing! However, if you find your hands crossing over your body’s midline in too much side to aide motion, you might be “twisting” too much.

Yep, IMO the "problem" in the first part are the stiff shoulders and throwing the elbows so far away from the body.
There's nothing inherently wrong with crossing the middle if you're running relaxed and it doesn't lead to an excessive rotation of the torso.

no I've just given up on getting my arms to not do this incorrectly and i still run at a very good 16 mph so im hoping correcting them one day i can run better

this is very reductive advice. excessive crossing of the centreline isn't something that needs correcting, it is probably indicative of an underlying problem that is being compensated for. check out brigid kosgei's arm swing. yeah.... you tell her. I dare you.
