Mew and Mewtwo EXPLAINED!

When it comes to legendary Pokemon, there are very few Pokemon which truly feel “legendary”. Even in generation one, when we only had 5 Legendary Pokemon, there was definitely separate tiers. The three legendary birds were powerful elemental monsters that felt more important than just about every other Pokemon in the game. However, they absolutely feel insignificant when you compare them to mewtwo. This man made Pokemon was really just on another level. It was fast, powerful, and it just has a pressure about it. And then there is Mew. A mythical Pokemon that was nearly impossible to get your hands on. For most kids, the only times we saw this Pokemon was in the opening theme of the Pokemon anime, or in the first Pokemon movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back. and with the remake of this movie making some major news in the Pokemon community, i figured it would be a perfect time to retell the story of Mew and Mewtwo. And for this case, we will be focusing purely on the stories of generation 1. Mewtwo is awesome, he went from villain to hero after one movie, has a cool design, and he is the only legendary pokemon to be playable in super smash bros

Mewtwo is everyone favorite legendary he’s has an complex backstory but I wish they kept the untold story of his birth it’s key to his character and really fleshes him out more. Love to see more legendary explain videos.

Mewtwo is the OG God Emperor of Pokemon. For me, Movie Mewtwo and Manga Mewtwo are tied for best, and the movies show us a second Mewtwo, so in the anime movies, there are two Mewtwo: One created by Team Rocket, and another created in Kalos, presumably by Team Flare or just a rando group o scientists (Can't remember). Mewtwo has been and still is to this day my #1 favorite Pokemon.

Mew and Mewtwo are my favorite Gen 1 Pokemon. Their creature designs are iconic, their power is unmatched by all other Pokemon of the Kanto Region, their backstories are engaging, and their staring roles in Pokemon the first movie was and still is impactful too me. I agree with you the lesson Mewtwo learned at the end of the movie is very important and something we all take for granted.

I personally like Mew better because it can learn almost every Pokémon move excluding those that can only be learned by certain Pokémon. Not to mention the cuteness of this mythical Pokémon. But Mewtwo is also pretty cool.

I love how subtle the story of Mewtwo was in the Gen 1 games. From the clues throughout the game and the diaries in the Pokémon Mansion, the prevailing story is that Dr. Fuji and maybe Blaine were commissioned / funded by Giovanni to use Mew’s DNA to make a super Pokémon in the Pokémon Mansion. Dr. Fuji went along with this because of someone who passed away, which is why he’s now secluded himself in Lavender Town after Mewtwo’s escape and has so much appreciation for caring for others. Ditto is found in the Mansion and Ditto and Mew are the only learners of the move Transform, telling you they have to be linked. Mew is clearly failed clones of Mew. They made Mewtwo, he destroyed the Mansion, and then Giovanni is on the hunt for a Master Ball and trying to re-hire Dr. Fuji to go recapture Mewtwo. In the games, they never explain why Team Rocket is trying to get Dr. Fuji, but from all the other clues you can figure this out.

I like the anime version the best.

I also feel that the BW series Mewtwo is incredibly underrated. It was different, but still interesting. And having it interact and even battle against what is essentially its Generation V counterpart, Genesect, was really nice to witness.

Mewtwo is a badass. He's powerful af and doesn't give up for any reason. Also I liked how Ash recognizes him during journeys (Mewtwo doesn't show it because he's not sentimental toward humans lol)

I've only much known the movie. I just love Mewtwo too much. Shame though Mewtwo made Ash, Misty, Brock, team rocket and all others forget about what they faced in the movie. Also don't forget when Gary, ash's first rival list battle against Mewtwo, would be so surprised if he found out that Pokémon he battled was Mewtwo and Ash was brave enough to stop him by sacrificing himself for all the Pokémon. Why not do a video about Zygard next😉
