Mewtwo was deeply a victim of human ignorance, and selfeshness. I saw the movie when I was little and began to wonder why Mewtwo hated humans so much, up until I was old enough to understand its encounter with human beings.

I was a huge Pokémon fan and immediately gravitated towards Mewtwo as my favorite character. He was never evil nor really a villain. He was young and naive, and mistreated by those responsible for his existence.

Mewtwo was my father's favorite pokemon. I didn't really understand why except he told me it looked cool. But considering what Mewtwo has gone through and what my father went through in his life...I can finally see why. Not just because of this video, but experiencing the cruelty of humans as well as coming to realize my own cruelty and selfishness.

I believe that mewtwo’s reasoning for surrounding himself with clones is due to his unresolved feelings of grief of losing amber. He was never able to process that grief so his solution is to surround himself with “superior” clones. Clones that he deems are strong enough to protect themselves. Strong enough to never leave him, so he never has to feel that grief again. Seeing ash being revived by the tears of the pokemon made him realize that to quote vision “what is grief if not love persevering.” He realized that strength and longevity isnt the meaning of life. That even if losing loved ones made him grief, that doesnt mean that it isnt worth loving and living.

This takes back to my childhood I remember see this in theaters when it first came out. Mewtwo is such a tragic character. I never knew how deep this movie was until you did this video.

As pointed out, Mewtwo wasn't a villain so much as a victim. Since the head scientist had created Mewtwo because of Giovanni's funding into clone research I'd say Giovanni was the true villain, if the scientists had actually showed concern rather than patting each other on the back maybe Mewtwo wouldn't have lashed out. As the head scientist says upon Mewtwo's destruction: "We sought to create the world's strongest Pokemon...and we've succeeded."

Nice analysis on Mewtwo. If you ever do more Pokemon movie villains here’s a few I can think of:
.Molly and Entei from Spell of the Unknown
.Annie and Oakley from Latios and Latias
.

I can’t believe that the 1999 dub completely misunderstood of what Shudo’s true intentions for the series was made for.

Similar to the story of Frankenstein's monster.

You could do a video on juror 3 from 12 angry men.

If mewtwo was real I would gladly want to be his friend and keep him as a pet and I would let him do whatever he wanted to do.

Villains and heroes are cut from the same cloth.
Heroes: the world hurt me, so I’ll make sure it never happens to anyone by doing good.
Villains: the world hurt me, so I’m going to hurt the world.
Anti-heroes: the world hurt me, so I’m going to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen to anyone else but I don’t care how I do it even if it hurts someone else.
Anti-villains: The world hurt me, so I'll use nefarious means to balance power in my favor, and create a world where no one will go through what I did.
Mewtwo is an anti-villain. Another example is Daenerys Targaryen.

The original 1999 Japanese version is better than the dub
