Physical contact also works surprisingly well for meltdowns in my case. Nothing better to cheer me up like a big hug <3

Great video! I am a pianist so I think playing piano would be a helpful thing to help me with shutdowns

Great video and tips as always Andy. You hit the nail on the head for the very first one and I would like to add to that first one is to give us space if need be or even just by being patient with us. Yes, time can be a wonderful thing as well as having others that are understanding enough to know what is really going on with us as we have these shutdowns. Sometimes, they're not pretty yet we can overcome them with the right people who will understand us etc. I feel that with me also is to have someone to either give me a hug or some gentle words of encouragement and more. Yes, I sure as hell sometimes, not like to be overwhelmed with more information or even just some noises that may start to stir me up to withdraw myself from whatever it is that is triggering me. Keep it up, sir!! Thanks for sharing this. 🙌🤲👊

First of all, I want to say thanks for making this video. I've watched numerous videos and recently did a lot of research on Aspies and the signs of a SHUTDOWN. 😫 I was just recently in a relationship with an aspie who had a shutdown... I didn't realize he was having one until 4 days had passed and he finally answered my call.. (I had to call from a blocked number). I told him how I love him and am here for him... It has been almost 3 or 4 weeks since he has shutdown. Do you know how long these typically last? He doesn't realize how his shutdown has also had an impact on me too.. Today, I made the decision that I'm just going to move forward until he decides to come back around.. Everything was going fine until I seen him prior to this. I wanted to be there for him to show him there are better ways that he can cope with having a shutdown, or being depressed.. However, he has just blocked me out.

Hey, Andy. I'm trying to educate myself more since I got the diagnosis, so, please may I ask what your childhood symptoms were? Like from 0 to 10 yo.

There needs to be a video when it's an overload situation where there's no way out, and your partner tries forcing you to communicate, EXPLAIN YOURSELF!!! Accusations, demands, derogutory statements, .... and how this is actually extremely abusive.
