A fantastic tip I heard somewhere is that if you're really struggling with shapes and correct dimensions etc

Turn both your drawing and reference upside down

When you're drawing things (especially faces) your brain will subconsciously be making you draw what YOU think a normal eye or hand looks like instead of how it actually looks but when you turn your reference picture upside down, your brain doesn't necessarily recognise it as a face and it will help to draw things how they actually are and when you're done you just turn it back around.

My problem is im left handed and my hand always ends up smearing everything because the way I have got use to drawing it's hard for me to hold the pencil and not have my hand on the paper it's so frustrating ive tried the paper trick under the hand that doesn't work even bought a glove that covers that part of the hand and the pinky/ring finger but still gets smired might just switch to colored pencils since those don't smear easy and i learned how to make them more vibrant finally
