I think an issue I have isn't just eye drawing in different angles, but also adding personality. I think people prefer the flat style because there's many examples and different expressions. To add eye depth...I'd love to see your take on eye depth but for cartoon or anime style faces ❤ I can't imagine it!

I’ve always remembered the eyelids as a really thick cloth that envelop the eye. It’s not a perfect equivalence but it does the job pretty well!

Fun fact i learned. The pupil on the eye does not overlap the eyelids. Thats why when drawing a sharp edgy eye looking up. The ball of the pupil must still be seen.

How do you recommend learning things like this? Should one start from studying the anatomy and theory and then apply it, or draw from reference attentively and “naturally” pick up these nuances? Somewhere in between?

The daunting thing for me is trying to learn and juggle so many aspects of anatomy, which sometimes gets in the way of drawing freely.
