I am so glad that I found your channel. I'm 64 and just started to learn watercolor. I learned how to set up my palette by your videos. I haven't drawn anything since 6th grade and have been beating myself up and quitting so many times. But I'm stubborn and want to learn. You have put so much in perspective for me. Thankyou so much. You can tell that you are a good teacher. I love how you use examples and explanation the reason behind everything'. I will be watching a lot of your previous videos. Retired and looking forward to my new adventures 😊

This tutorial is sooo helpful. I am learning watercolour technique two years now) but find myself constantly frustrated because I’ve never learned to draw - so I copy drawings made by others. Then I feel like I’ve cheated and am unhappy. Your tips and the explanations behind the mistakes are invaluable. Thank you. I’m a dedicated subscriber of your channel.

Thank you once again. I think the biggest thing I will take away from this one is not drawing one side and then the other. I paint a fair few beach huts and my stripes never match but now I know how Some of the other tips I spread you knew because I have watched most of your videos 😁😁😁

I'm afraid I drew what I thought was brilliant glass vase full of flowers but I forgot that the base should be smaller than the top rim plus I must remember grass isn't broad horizontal lines!

my biggest mistake is picking up a pencil. Even my stick figures come out wrong. But watching you is fascinating.
Our biggest flaw is we are our worst critics. We strive for perfection in what we do. This is true for painters, writers, cooks, etc... What we create might seem like garbage to us but to others it is a beauty that may inspire them in some way.

I use to write poetry and stories. I never published any of them. I don't even save them. I had done many poems online in forums like Twitter, AOL, Moba Mingle and other sites like those.

I like the part in your video about pencil strokes. I can relate to it in writing. Whenever I write poem or story on paper, I use a light stroke in a sense, cause it is easier to fix mistakes. Also your point on perspective applies to writers as well. Example:
A man walks into a room.

A dark figure enters a bar as his deep blue eyes slowly scans the room.

Our brains in everyday life would register the first one. But an Artist perspective fills in the details to try and capture the perspective of the reader.

on the second last fish...if he was in a rounded glass bowel; with a swim-turning to face the viewer; then a cat?

Funny. The first time my drawing tutor corrected me he told me to draw more firmly. He took my pencil and pressed so hard on my drawing he nearly went through the paper. I was furious - but I tried what he suggested and the drawing came out with a beautiful clean, accurate outline. My biggest tip is tape your paper to an easel or wall and draw, with your whole arm, standing up. Second biggest : quit using graphite pencils.

Oh Michele, you're such a great teacher, not just straightforward information but humour. I only decided to learn to draw last year and my sins start at 10 and go up to 1, but the greatest of these is 1. Get involved in intricate detail which then expands and expands as I try to pack more in. I don't feel so frustrated now I know I am not alone.

Just hold the pencil enough so it won't fall to the table😹😹😹😹😹Love your humor!

I have always remembered this tip. Draw what you see, not what you think you see.
