Everybody wants 1440p 144hz but have you ever considered 144p 1440hz?

Can someone explain to me the difference between toasters and computers? I've tried really hard with lots of research to find out and nothing :(

The way i see it, you can buy 1 for each purpose and still it will be cheaper than buy 144hz 1440p monitor today.

Ideal setup. 1080p 144 Hz monitor for games, and 2160p (4k) 60 Hz for movies and editing.

Did he just say counter strike is graphically demanding?

I recently bought 144hz monitor and it's just amazing, the difference is so huge between 60hz and 144hz. I had so much screen tearing because the fps always got above 60, but now it's all butter smooth and nice. So I can recommend getting 144hz monitor if you're willing to pay a little extra an if you have the power to run the games on higher framerate.

The smoothness is always the winner. Why do you think old CS players used to use CRT monitors? Because they had higher refresh rates than LCD's at the time.

Refresh rate is so much more inportent than grapics in my opinion, thanks for letting me know the true diffrends.

I've actually deliberately avoided any refresh rate above 60Hz. I can't affort to keep my computer in top shape to run all games at over 100 FPS, so I'd rather not know what I'm missing out and just game the way I always have. Besides, I don't want all my old video games to be ruined for me. So I'd rather not know how 144Hz looks.

Joe, your information is slightly off in this video. Playing at 144hz is not harder on your computer than playing at 60. If your gpu renders more than 60 fps in a game, but you lock it at 60, the gpu will still be able topump out more than 60 fps, it's just your monitor not showing it.

If ur watching this on 2021, I believe there are some 240hz monitors at 1440p, and even 144hz at 4K. Just so you know. This video is very old, so it’s outdated on the “high refresh rate does not go with high resolution”. The only time that is true is with your computer. The higher the resolution, the more pixels for your gpu to render. The higher the FPS, the more times it needs to render. So when you have let’s say 240hz at 1440p, unless you have a really nice CPU and GPU, you prob won’t be getting what your monitor can do on most games. So when you upgrade your monitor, make sure your computer can handle it.

Also the part where he says counter strike doesn’t get as much FPS, for what games we have now and the computers we have now, csgo is probably one of the easiest games to get FPS on, since it isn’t as much about quality of image and it’s a pretty simple game for your cpu to run and stuff.

1440p with 75hz is that too much to ask for with just over £200?

144hz is like butter, I sometimes use 60hz monitor and it feels like shit biscuits.

It is actually true the "RGB" part of the eye can only see up to 24"fps" but you only see colors in the middle of your view anyway, and the rest of the color is just done by the brain. But the brain can better notice a change of brightness then color. So you can almost so up to 600fps (black - white). I am using a 120hz monitor since almost a year now and its just great!
(sorry for bad german grammar) :D

I would rather choose higher quality. Even if it means playing playing gta 4 at 720p on ultra while trying to maintain at least 15 fps on my nvidia Geforce gt 620.

Thanks for resolving this topic, I always thought the refresh rate was in direct proportion to the cost of the screen size. I found a small red switch on the back of my computer that allows 240v, so by changing it from 110v-> 240v I gained 100% more computing Power for free.     :)  Thanks ThioJoe for all your worldly advise, your way better than calling local I.T. guys.  :)  I'm gonna Monitor this hertz concept a bit before making the changes to awesomeness.

I'm honestly not really that worried about resolution or refresh rate. I personally mostly care about a monitor that's just reliable and has great color.

So using dual link is better if I have the ability to use it?

This cleared it up very nicely, deserves more views.
