I’ve been lying to my girlfriend for a year. I recently faced the storm but the lying didn’t stop. I’ve been stripped of my lies at this point, either caught or came clean. But I still do not trust myself enough and I need help. I have become a pathological liar and it is not who I want to be. This video helped me realize that I have been lying to myself. I will change.

I am such a liar to myself and others. After watching this, it made realise what I’m afraid of and what’s making me feel so much pain that I could never heal from. Rejection and Loneliness. Thank you so much for this video

I've had a habit of lying to self preserve and I think like you said, there is power in telling the truth. I think it was Frankl who had the model of stimulus, space, then response. And he said there is power in the space between the stimulus and our response. And I think to get out of that habit, perhaps initially by just taking time to think about consequences of lying by omission or just lying in general, instead of thinking about surviving in a fight or flight, we must fight against our instinct to lie and face any storm like the buffalo. Thank you for the talk, really helped me admit a few things to myself

Great talk. Most of my painful experiences have come as a result of lying to myself.

This ted talk deserves more likes n comment, I found it extremely helpful. In the beginning of talk here is some technical voice break issue only that's why people are not continuing to watch it but its worth as u go further coz it's very knowledgeable video.

Annoying that the audio keeps skipping in this. A lot of people experiencing this? Kind of turned me away from watching the video.

Sound breaks made this unwatchable. Hope it gets edited and re-posted.

Why do some one simply ly for no reason not expecting any benefit?

Let's see, an adulterer gets caught and shame helped him realize what he was doing was wrong. Then he enrolls the audience to identify with his deception using guilt so he can do a Ted Talk. Bro, did you learn anything?
