There is a name for creating fictional countries and everything that's involved in it: geofiction. I'm in a geofiction interaction project with a few friends where we have several fictional countries interacting with one another and we even met some new people to join us along the way. We even created our own flags and languages. It's a pretty fun hobby, but it does require some creativity and preferably some drawing skills and story writing. But yeah, it's a thing with a name, and there are multiple platforms you can participate in. Nice to see some other people having the same hobby.
