Rewriting code from scratch is underrated

kids 😁. When I was in college, you handed your punch card deck to a guy in a lab coat, then two days later you found out you left out a character.
My husband WAS that lab coat guy (at a different school) who would just take a moment and *fix* those little mistakes for people who probably never knew what a hero he was. I didn’t know him then, but when he told me he did this, it was reason enough to marry him 💁‍♀️

The code that runs Dropbox is entirely bugs.

The IT industry has a lot to learn from the aircraft industry. I have worked in a number of industries over the years and I have to say that the IT industry seems quite happy to live up to its maverick seat of the pants image and not embrace continuous improvement

There are bugs and there are bugs. Some bugs are inconsequential. Other bugs, when triggered can be catastrophic.

I would phrase this as "90% of the code takes 50% of the time." I think that's a little more accurate than just talking about bugs... when you debug code, that frequently leads to refactoring and other improvements/tweaks.

I hate it when people say "I never had a typing class, so I never learned". To his credit, he admits that he didn't self-correct it himself either. But he speaks as though it's now impossible for him to do so. There are websites dedicated to teaching you how to type properly, within a week you'll be typing properly, and within a month you'll be used to it. So little time for such a massive increase in efficiency.

Hey any % below 100% of bugs per line of code is a win in my book.

Kinesis keyboards are great, but I'll stick to my vim delete functions in normal mode. Makes you ask yourself what needs to be deleted first

"I never learned to type with 10 fingers"

We'll let it slide this time since you created Python, but do better

I think it’s less bugs per line, it’s how much test coverage is there for their code added
