“Once a magnet breaks, the polarity changes, causing them to become two individual magnets.”

So technically, magnets never break, they just multiply

It's a very basic science issue, but to fix a fragmented magnet, you'd need to de-magnetize the pieces, reforge them into a singular unit, then re-magnetize them to the original strength area

The pain when a magnet collides with another and hits your fingertip.

The orientation of the break will greatly affect how much the pieces repel each other. If the break is mostly perpendicular to the poles, it may stick right back together on its own. But if it is parallel to them, it will repel very strongly.

I genuinely had no idea that magnets can’t attract each other anymore once they break

The polarity doesn't flip, it has to do with magnetic domains. Ferromagnetic materials are made up of magnetic domains, and when they are magnetized the domains are aligned. It turns out to be a lower energy state to have two broken halves far apart, but there is no change in polarity happening at any point.

You cant break a magnet, you can only make more

The broken piece doesn't change its polarity. Imagine the big magnet is like this:
++++
- - - -

And when it breaks it's like this:
++ ++
- - - -

So now you have 2 magnets with similar poles on the same side, so they want to repel. Each piece has the same polarity as it had before, but now they repel.

We must build our build our communities like magnets. When divided, we still stand alone a self sustaining unit.
