AMD Finally Quit…
Well it looks like at least for now AMD has quit trying to compete with Nvidia as not only are they not very competitive in terms of price on their latest GPUs when comparing for example the RX 7900 XT to the RTX 4070 Ti, but now things have taken a turn for the worse. Nvidia just launched their RTX 4070 GPU the cheapest RTX 40 series card available so far, but AMD is nowhere in sight. Not only have AMD not released any new GPUs under $800, but there have been no official announcements or even hints that they will be releasing anything anytime soon. With AMD out of the picture Nvidia can charge whatever price they want for the RTX 4070, and unless your willing to buy a used graphics card gamers will have no choice but to pay up.

The 6950xt Beats the 4070, and it is now on sale for $600. They don't need to make a new card, when they just dropped the price by $300.

Amd is going to be competing with themselves again, the 6900xt and 6950xt are already extremely great value, I doubt they can top it with their upcoming GPUs

In my opinion, AMD is teaching buyers to be wise. Seeing this benchmarks and comparing them to AMD is a good thing so people will think twice before buying. Rx 6000 series when compared with Nvidia counter part, had age quite well but that's just me.

Meh, AMD is still a better option. Their newest drivers have nice little perf bumps for older RX GPU's, Nvidia isn't doing anything to help their older aging GPU's to where as AMD is (this IS mindshare).

No thanks! Passing on 12GB graphics cards in 2023. This is just a sad release. I don't want to shop for a replacement in 12-18 months.

AMD is not giving up, they're just holding of new products until all the cheap brand new with warranty 6950xt and 6800xt sell out before releasing something that will inevitably drive the prices of their last gen cards further down and make their mid-range current gen look like a terrible deal, which is the same thing Nvidia did but their GPUs always sell faster than AMD.

This is the 4060 for $400 inside the 4070 box with a $600 price.
This is the worst 70-class ever created because this is not the 4070.
1070 was 29% faster than the 980, 2070 was 16% faster than the 1080, 3070 was 26% faster than the 2080, and this fake 4070 is 3-5% SLOWER than the 3080.
And this abomination is only 30% faster than the 3070 but we all know that the real uplift from Ampere is more than 70%.

For me the whole current GPU generation is DOA because of the prices they ask for it, I do not deny their decent performance but also cutting corners on size and bandwidth of the memory on NV cards and the small difference on price between the XTX and XT icw lack of availability even the AMD doesn't feel like the right choice atm either. I am willing to pay between €800 to €900 for a decent GPU (80 class or XTX) but they are all way over €1300 for NV and €1100 for AMD. I am voting with my wallet and it is saying

What I think, given only two real competitors at it in this space, it isn't outside the realm of possibility that they collude with each other in one form or another.

Excuse me, the 6950XT is already an answer for the 4070. Faster Raster and not that much worse Ray Tracing. With +4GB VRAM at the same retail price.

The 7800XT 16GB is taking so long cause it will be very similar to the 6950XT performance, likely at $600 max. It will outcompete their own 6950XT and for sure any 4070 card since 12GB cards are expected to choke on VRAM if you enable RT before 2024.

Even a 6800XT can be undervolted to 175-200w power use with the same clocks and no performance loss.
