For me it's the high price of graphics cards that's keeping me from building a new computer. There was a great article in Maximum PC about how the price of graphics cards is self destructive to the industry.

I think the problem is that people buy GPUs to last for more than 2-3 years, and especially at these prices, it doesn't really seem like good deals, when they can't even do max settings for the price you are paying..I mean, shit aint cheap and people, in the EU at least, dont have that much money to spend atm

Literaly had a 3060 ti in my cart until i found the 6700xt. 12gb vram, and cheaper! with a nice cooler to. (Powercolor Hellhound)

The way vram requirements are increasing, 24 gb vram will become average in 5 or so years

With all the press vram is getting, you can almost already see the 'new' 16GB versions of the 40 series cards coming out in time for the 23 winter buying glut.

The 4070 is too steep for the asking price, especially for only 12GB. I might as well get a 6950XT.

The rx 6800xt is actually at 539 atm which is why I picked one up they are going for 539-600 well some variants asrocks model is 539 xfx is 579 power color is 569.

The real reason Q1 AMD and NVIDIA GPU sales numbers were pretty poor is because of their outrageous pricing. With the scalper friendly market of the last 2 years there are lots of people waiting to buy something where the price makes sense. If the 4080 had come in with a $699 to $799 launch MSRP like the 3080 had, or even $850, we would be sitting here talking about how strong GPU sales are despite a soft market for Apple and some other manufacturers. Instead they played stupid games with mis-named products and inflated prices.

Running a 980 with 4gb, the next card will be the 7900xt it looks to me the best value for the next 4+ years in price and performance if you don't do heavy ray tracing.

Sorry but...this AMD slide is NOT a "best case" misrepresentation...unless you are nVidia, in which case AMD is showing their COMPETITION in a BETTER light than current reality.

The 4070 is looking like it was the supposed 4070ti before Nvidia turned the 4080 12gb into the 4070ti that we have now. It's a low blow, but it is looking like that yeah... Idk man, I might still get it since nvidia is still the better one when it comes to productivity workloads. I just want a gpu that can pretty much do more than just gaming that is bang in the buck.

It would be more useful to have coverage of what texture resolutions are needed for 1080p, 1440 and 4k rather than if AMD is calling us "dumb", ofc they will use present data because those numbers are published now. Does it make sense to start pointing at launch prices when those are not current?

Nvidia could of Sold me on the 4070 if it had 16GB VRAM. I would have been jumping on it as fast as I can. Issue is, they didn't.

4070 doesn't have enough VRAM and neither does the 4070 ti, so AMD has a point with the VRAM marketing...

AMD is absolutely right with the vRAM capacity. Nvidia is fooling the consumers with lower vRAM for such costly GPUs.

I’m not sure why you’re so hung up on the price the cards launched for. If I had $600 to spend, I wouldn’t grab the 3070 ti over the 6950 xt just because the 6950 xt was more expensive when it launched.
