Electric Range Burner Not Turning Off - How To Fix It

If your electric range, stove, or cooktop has a surface burner that gets stuck on high and you can't turn it down, there is a high chance that the problem lies in the infinite switch. The infinite switch is used on most electric stoves to control a surface burner. With time and wear, the infinite switch can start to get stuck which will result with the burner getting stuck in low or high heat or sometimes the burner will not turn off at all. The good news is that replacing an infinite switch is actually pretty easy and in this video I show you an example of how the replacement is done.

One of the burners were disconnected I fixed it with better spade. ( high jack professional)
But the switch keep staying on. And you came in and game me the solution.

Unplugging the 240 volt plug is an excellent use for mechanic's gloves (better grip AND electrical insulation for your hands.)
While you're in there replacing the switch, have your S.O. clean up those plastic parts under the panel (especially those grungy plastic nuts).

One question: when I look up the part on repairclinic or deyparts, there are three control switches listed for my GE JSP47SH2SS (two "surface element switches" and an "inf switch") -- which one do I need for my front left burner that doesn't turn off?

I love your show man, the absolute best of YT for HVAC and I watch a lot of them as I’m in trade school now.

I think it would be very cool to compile the different sounds that components make and compare to the sounds they make when they’re broken or breaking down (rough motors, bearings, compressor etc.)

I've had the same failure both front burners of my Whirlpool stove where the burners have stayed on super nova orange glow with the control on a low setting like 1 or 2. The first time I burned a pan of mushrooms and set off the smoke alarm while I was getting the grill ready for some steaks and boiled over a pan of brats last weekend. I'm surprised there isn't a recall or some warning on these switches, or a better fail-safe design. This could be dangerous!

Hi you video was very informative. But, i have a GE Gas Stove . My high burner is stuck ed in the high position it wont tun off. So i had to turn the gas off . Any suggestions? Until i can get a new switch?
