Inside the stove top burner element are some thermal limiters that control the high limit temperature of the element and one that controls the hot surface indicator light.

Very nice. You are the first to explain that there is in fact a limit thermostat and a hot switch on glass top elements. I have a bit of a conundrum with an LG front left element. I believe the limit thermostat is keeping my good element ( right resistance) from heating, but there could be a control board or relay problem as the same burner Left front would intermittently come on when left rear was energized.(with no indication of Hot Surface) Would you gamble on fiddling with the limit thermostat or just replace the assembly?

I replaced the control switch for front left dual element on my smooth top stove (Jenn-air made by Whirlpool). There was an arc in the switch (not sure what caused it). Now that I have replaced the switch, the burner heats either single or dual element heat, but there is no control from switch. It heats continuously with no element on and off so the switch is acting as an on off switch. I can not vary the heat output of burner no matter where I set the control switch. Is there a feedback to the switch from the burner or what controls the output of burner. Sorry so many words. Thanks

GE ceramic top range. Triple burner element, infinite control switch, selector switch, temperature switch, all show continuity. Still, 6 inch of 6, 9, 12, not working. Can you advice?

I have a Maytag Glass Top it is 18 months old...
It only had a One Year Warranty...
Over the labor day weekend I was slow cooking Ribs & after cooking them at 325 for 5 hours (they turned out great by the way) after I removed the Ribs I turned the broiler on to toast the Garlic Bread after a while I noticed that the Garlic Bread was not getting toasted ??
Then I noticed that all the burners were lifeless ??
I had absolutely no heating power at all but the light in the oven & the display panel did have power...Could you possibly point me in the right direction... I would really appreciate it & I will give you my world famous Secret Rib Recipe...💃💃💃💃💃
