We did that all through high school in the 80, s it was supposed to make your neck stronger…No one ever had a neck injury all 4 years 🤷‍♂️

Did that in high-school from 91-95'. My father was the strength coach and defensive coordinator and ny linebacker coach. He had been doing it since the 70s! We did all 4 sides 12 long seconds each before we hit. We partnered with eachother though.

They don't know nothing about this!!. We did this stretch in high school ('85-'88). Each group would pair up with a teammate(in my case the Oline) and do it. We had zero neck injuries. Im willing to bet their coach has
30 plus years of experience. Awesome job!!

Yes! It’s a common stretch for football to strengthen the neck. Very important stretch and done daily in practices

That’s an isometric exercise; not really a stretch, but it can be great for strengthening neck muscles - which is important for correct form tackling… Helps to avoid neck injuries, for sure and it can help lessen concussive forces to the head, because the neck becomes a better shock absorber upon tackling impacts.

This is an important stretch that also strengthens the neck muscles and helps prevent serious neck trauma while playing

Naw never seen that stretch but its stretching the neck. This was my study at Tulsa Exercise Sports Science. And the cool thing about this profession like strength and conditioning vs other degrees and profession its a science so theres always new things like stretches, drills, and exercises that ppl come up with or discover that works different muscles in the body outside of the main ones normal ppl do when they go to the gym. I mean literally finding excercise for areas like the IT band, etc etc. Areas that normally dont get focused on but upon developing these areas strengthens the athlete. I wish i stayed and finished my degree, was only 22 hours short. Very very interesting field of study

more of decompression. Haven't seen it on the field but it can def be beneficial. Dead hangs would be more applicable though
