For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

They make it sound like the non Christian stuff is kosher and you can't find anything scandalous in those books. Hopefully he gets to know the God of the Bible for himself.

I was raised to read the bible as well . 10000 years from now i will be praising God for His grace to me and shouting thanks to my parents for bringing me to Him .

I have been a pastor for 30 years. I have three children all grown and only two are walking with the Lord, and one who has rejected the faith altogether...we don't see her much and hear from her even less. At times the pain is unbearable for my wife and me. My heart breaks for John and Noel Piper. All these people who deconstruct seem to have an air of arrogance about them. Abraham is very smug. However, what none of them seem to realize is that death is coming for all of them and there is not a thing they can do to stop that train from coming. I have less time to live on this earth than I have lived, eternity is very real to me now more than ever. I couldn't imagine a life without Christ, a life spent in relative obscurity without any ultimate meaning...the absurdity of it all.

Funny how he disapproves of children reading about Jezebel, etc. and assumes that “normal” kids don’t read/see violence in secular culture. 😂

So many blaming John Piper for his son... As if they've been inside the Piper houshold and know exactly how it was run...

There are lots of examples both in the Bible and in real life where a child wanders from the path his father teaches... Don't be so quick to blame... God will hold us accountable to what we post...

Even if he's not a believer, he should show basic respect to his father by not running his mouth like this. What a punk.

I've been born again since I was 10, and I am now 51. I have never met a Pastor's kid who was walking right with Jesus. Not saying there are none, it's just that doesn't Timothy tell us a Bishop must have his family in order for him to be qualified? Today's pastors seem more invested in keeping their church growing than their families growing.

This guy has no respect for his father. He's entitled to his own beliefs, but *this right here* seems like he's trying to disgrace his dad. The cursing, the mocking. SMH 🤦🏽‍♀️
And atheists typically have a disconnect with their call it "The Father Wound".

You’re exactly right. Praying for this wayward son.

And another point that I thought of: No one seriously objects to studying violence in history. This is typical atheist logic. They have an issue with the Bible because it’s violent, but not the study of secular history (which is extremely violent). They don’t have a problem with violent video games and movies either. They won’t apply that same standard to other areas and instead, openly promote and celebrate them.

No one would say we shouldn’t teach about the war, conquest, genocide, and all around violence that has occurred throughout world history. We teach these things so students can learn from the mistakes and failures of people in history and not repeat them. We also teach them history to show that actions have consequences.

The same is true of the people and events of the Bible. The “bad” things in the Bible show us that God punishes sin, often in this life, and definitely in the life to come. They teach us that rebellion against God and sin against our fellow man has consequences.

You have to teach to their maturity level as well. You wouldn’t want to teach a pre-schooler about the Holocaust or give all the gory details to a younger child. Those are things that might come in high school or college. I think the same holds true for teaching the Bible to your children.

But, if done correctly, biblical instruction can show the blessings that come with obedience and the curse that comes from our sin.

I didn't have the advantage of having a Godly father so I never knew what that kind of love that was like. 30 years ago I met Him by faith. I really love Him. I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. Abraham I wish you well.

His immaturity is striking in how he presents ideas.

He refers to going back to Song of Soloman to read about 'breasts'. He passes this off as a joke but in that sentence alone Abraham revealed to us the real issue.

Abraham loves his sin and hates the God who will hold him accountable for that sin. This has has led him to supress the truth in unrighteousness and exhange the truth for a lie.

The very God he hates, the very gospel he abhors offers him free forgiveness through Jesus. Lets pray doesnt continue his 'deconstruction' and comes to saving faith in Christ.

Consider this a rebuke to the unkind people on here that are making silly comments like, "well I guess Piper must realize his own theology that Abraham is not chosen". In addition to the fact the final chapter is not yet written in this man's life, and that he is a human being deserving of love, why add insult and take opportunity to mock other Christians you disagree with doctrinally?

I'm glad that it was you brother, that first made me aware of this. Great video as always. Grace, and peace.

I expect Saul was similar to this before he surrendered, don’t write anyone off or you limit God. While there’s life there’s hope.

You are so right about how an understanding of reformed theology opens our eyes to scripture and understanding of why people do what they do. Without it, I was unable to make sense of God's Word and of this fallen world. Still much to understand. Trusting God for what He promises.
