I grew up in the church. My dad was an associate pastor for most of my childhood and my mom the worship leader and Sunday school teacher. When i got a little older, I did have that feeling of obligation to go to church. I never doubted Jesus but I was never good at explaining my faith and I probably made a lot of mistakes. When I was in my late 20s I realized how wonderful being with believers can be and worshiping God. I don't feel obligated to go to church. It's an honor to be with people who are real and loving.
My kids are very young, but I talk about why we believe in Jesus and I also share other faiths. I've discussed Islam with my son and told him the beliefs held by Muslims that contradict the Bible. Every night our son asks us questions. For a 7 year old he has some great questions that challenge me. Sometimes I'll have to say, "that's a good question but I'm not sure how to answer. Let me read up on it." We want to give them a foundation to stand on but also let them question and teach them how to think and use logic. That way when they are on their own, our prayer is they will rise to the challenges of the world, because of that foundation that was built upon. Truth can handle questions and I never want my kids to be afraid to ask.

Hey my brother, last night I spent at least half hour speaking with a real good friend of mine about seeking God, seeking truth and gently refuting his objections.

His main objections were that he rejects the Christian God and fails to see the actual point in all of it.

I made the mistake of having once told him that Christ revealed himself to me without any doing of my own - I was referring to rebirth, but now he asks - “when will God find me worthy of revealing Christ to me”

He grew up as Jehovahs Witness and studied their bible every other day, went out door to door, eventually being shunned, etc etc - this truly being a heavy yoke to deal with and one he never wants to deal with again, understandably.

I fell asleep thinking about how growing up in that cult-like environment really made him rebel to the uttermost, it truly was a yoke.

For whatever reason I have these discussions with him from time to time and I can’t help but have faith that God will touch his heart someday.

Coincidentally, this video reminded me a lot about him, and when it finished I see that your name is Fidel - well, so is my buddy’s.

I ask for your prayers, that God grant him repentance and use me in whichever way He sees fit.

Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25, ESV)

24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil,
25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth,
26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. (2 Timothy 2:24, ESV)

I didn't grow up in the church I grew up in the world ...but God switched things around ...and I understood the Gospel ...a sinner saved by Christ I believe that is a supernatural moment ...that's why we are born again ...Abraham is the opposite ..he..grew up doing church but the allures of the world have taken hold of his heart and mind ...I believe as Christians we have an awakening ...and those who leave the faith are back in a destructive slumber ..let's pray ..that we will finish the race ...

You’re absolutely right ... and it should give Christians the courage to continue to walk in the faith ... but it is hard for us to understand that a man of such biblical truth could have a sin that mocks the Bible. It’s said but it shows you that God saves people not man. Only God can change Pipers son’s heart 🙏🏾

I just had a conversation with my family about this not so long ago. I think about them and a lot of them actually go through difficult times and eventually go astray. So many people question about the preacher's life that how is he giving sermons at church to people when he can't even manage his own children at home. So doubts come to the brethren's mind and question the preacher's credibility. I think it is one way the devil wants the church and believers to have, to wonder and question and create negativity in their minds. We pray for the youth that they will always be strong especially because they can be targeted badly by the devil because of all these expectations that the people have on them until their minds get clouded. May God give them strength of character to face every trials and temptation that they encounter and most importantly we pray for our preachers to continuously to the good work. Thank you! I enjoyed your video.

Under our apostle paul’s ministry, today we are only saved by BELIEVING The Gospel of Jesus Christ, 1st Corinthians Chapter 15 verse 1-4.Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day.Jesus Christ Shed Blood is what saves you when you believe this plan of salvation with your heart.

Its a responsibility and a burden. As you alluded to children should be guided and no ideology shoved down their throat also your point on tradition is a factor .God wants us to think and ask questions . Relationship with God in Christianity is a choice most importantly Holy Spirit conviction .

Most people hate the fact that God is Sovereign. AND YES, OF SALVATION AS WELL!!! just because my father was chosen, that doesn't mean I am chosen as well. To all of you who hate the Sovereignty of God, please read the Bible carefully.

I think it’s definitely a sign of how much Abraham Piper speaks to people to see how many response videos he gets from apologetics YouTube.

I disagree with your assessment. John's piper has other children who turned out just fine. If Abraham decided to turn his back on the faith that's on him and it has nothing to do with the parenting of John and Noel.

I understand you grow up and don't believe ...but Abraham is being disrespectful...you can disagree but be respectful... I have met people ..who are not believers who are respectful ...in their speech ...

Yup.it's easy to understand how some people stop believing in things that are demonstrably false. Prayer works as well as not praying. God, heaven and hell do not exist. This child of a preacher understands the world better than his father.

We expect the parents to have done their job given by God... Eph 6:4. Remember the Bible says that children are like an arrow (Psa 127), an arrow goes to where an archer is aiming... You also quoted Pro 22:6, this is a general statement said by Solomon. It falls under wisdom literature. If we know that the world is going to be burned, and you see that your children are going to be burned, you will do the best you can to save them... It is not the burden, it is love
