I appreciate that you took the time to transcribe and show the score. Many other channels show tabs, but I prefer getting used to reading music.

Great lesson. Thank you! And having the score on screen is super-helpful.

Wow, really loved your video and your clear presentation. I have been playing blues scales most of my career. I am a sax player that spent the last thirty-five years focused on rock, r&b, pop, soul, funk, country. I grew up playing in concert, jazz, and stage ensembles but unfortunately, could not afford private lessons. Now, in my older age I am really focusing on adding the jazz skills to my playing ability. I am glad I came across your video and plan on continuing to check them out to help me in my journey.

Love this very focused lesson on how to make a simple scale sound so wonderful in a solo. The marked up musical sections really helped me to see where you were going with each phrase. I think your rhythmic choices for each phrase added a lot of interest to the line.

Also, that is a magnificent guitar! Looks and sounds beautiful with such a smooth tonal range.

Wow another functional lesson that I have been exploring recently, with little progress. This guy really lays it out nicely, readily understandable and not incredibly complicated rhythmically so it is readily accessible content to the hobbyist. Thank You,

I can’t help but to think in arpeggios, but add whatever you need or take away whatever you need. So if I’m thinking minor 7, I know I can play a pentatonic or add some blues. It’s harder for me to think in scales for some reason. Hard for me to explain how I think haha. I like to think in intervals and not scales. If I know formulas, I know what I can do. And trying to learn shapes doesn’t do it for me, I have such a hard time with that. But if you give me a formula, I can manipulate or whatever I need to do.

Main Take-Away: Aim for a chord tone in the incoming chord. Great video sir! Keep it up and thanks for the suggested next video!

Bar 2 Should the E note be flatted on the music notation? Fits the F7 chord. Jerry the Nit Picker.

This was helpful Brett, but I would have found it even more helpful if, on your guitar, you had some dots to identify the frets you're on. It looks like a new guitar for you - very nice!
