I learned these scales, the fretboard, all scales by notes rather than patterns years ago BUT this is a great way to encourage students in that critical early stage where learning all 5 patterns of the pentatonic or blues scale might seem 'a bit much'. Excellent work & I'm ashamed that I didn't get it myself with all that playing. 👍👍👍👍👍

Got to say, this has been an AHA lesson for me. Really freaking cool. And what’s even easier is if you want the blues notes, it’s the middle of the first 1-3 and the outside of the 3rd 1-3 (ie #4 as you add it up the neck).. Once you’ve mastered the pentatonics, the blues scale is just 2 more notes. Easy !!!
