What Could Go Wrong??? Ford's New Truck Shifter

Today I show Ford's new center console shifter in the 2023 Ford F-150!

So new Ford owner is informed their center console shifter has failed. Repairs will cost $4, 626.01.

They have a million other ways to make that space for the table, but chose the most unreliable and expensive way…

before the warrenty expires, there will be complaints that the shifter wont come up to put it in gear.

That last “safety” feature would be so annoying. Often times, when visibility in my rear window is obscured or my mirror can’t see my trailer, I will open my door and look back while reversing a trailer.

I hate how that goes into park like that. I pull a lot of trailers and have a narrow driveway where my firewood is on the edge, so I open my door while backing sometimes or I just jump in my truck to move it with the door open. I think I’ll stick to the 22 and older from now on

Ya know a column shifter would solve the whole “shifter being in the way of the flip down work surface” problem. But then again so would the stupid dial shifter like on the rams, so it could be worse I guess.

While I hate column shifters, I don't expect this wear well over the miles. The more mechanical/analog the better.

50, 000 miles and I’ve had no issues and yes I use my truck to work out of and that small desk is amazing

The best OEM automatic shifter I've ever seen is the Mercedes electronic column shifter. It doesn't take up space. It's not complicated and it doesnt require you twisting your head to see what you're doing; it can be operated by feel.

My dad hates those packaway shifters, he does recovery. If the battery is dead, how do you get it out of park?
