I find that I get tunnel vision at work. That i can focus intensely on what's in front of me. But this gets in the way of multitasking requirements and I lose that focus when I'm trying to switch from task to task quickly. At home I feel like i self sabotage my basic needs and prevent myself from fully engaging with society.

The biggest problem in my experience is the ADHD paralysis that almost always occurs when I have to do multiple tasks in a specific amount of time which is obviously all of the time I have to do stuff. The only time this was no problem for me was when I took Ritalin.

Combat sports saved pretty much saved my life and brain as a late diagnosed adhder. There is nothing more down to earth than fighting, you ain’t got any other choice but to focus or you’re dead lol.
So please, if you have adhd, start a combat discipline.

My ADHD is severe enough I cannot meditate cause memes and dumb stuff start popping into my head which was a huge relief from the intrusive thoughts to used to get from BPD.

But now I’m a personal trainer and I write fiction, do digital art and train 6x a week and those have all managed to help me achieve the same as what meditation would.

I "baby stepped" my way into meditation. I first kind of did it on accident listening to Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony and then I realized I could repeat it with that. I'd just lay down do the body part by body part release as I listened- I was told (this was decades ago) that this isn't "real" meditation but I felt like I got to the same place. In later years after I lost the CD I figured out how to repeat it with balanced movements which required focus on them and after a time simply starting the movements triggered the state. I've also managed it walking in nature. for years I bought into the "not real" line because I never have been able to do it sitting still without an audio or visual component (for me it needs to not have words in either form just things you can follow). I did my stuff anyway because I found it helped me and now I'm finding more people who get what I long ago dubbed "kinetic meditation" (my way of saying I move when I do it) and understand for some body still means mind over clocked but adding a repeatable movement or sound or image helps quiet the mind.

Love this! I use standing on one foot fairly regularly to try and grab whatever focus I can, but hadn't thought of it as a general discipline to improve my focus.

This just made me remember as a kid I always felt like a "bad Christian" cause I couldn't just close my eyes, sit still, and pray like everyone else. I gotta be pacing and whispering out loud or doing weird arm movements to actually pray but that is disruptive lol.

Daily suffering with the blankness of my mind towards my future. People trying to get some jobs for me but already quit 3 abruptly and everytime i think about these my anxiety sky rockets. Constantly having these thoughts to just leave the house and get away from everything i know but immediately my mind asks me what am i trying to achieve by doing that. These mental gymnastics are killing me.
For a second i feel all hopeful and another second i feel theres no life ahead.

What to do? Never had in my life i desperately have the need to talk with someone. I want to talk to someone but its constant judgement.

Hi! It’s me, I have ADHD. I’m currently working on the Ph.D in theoretical mathematics (homological alg to be exact). I “achieve” things by creating systems and routines so I can “achieve” the minor goals I set for the day. It’s about knowing your weaknesses and building systems to deal with them better.

Meditation makes my mind race. Its actually counter productive for me. It doesn't have a calming effect but exactly the opposite
