Another thing is that russian blue cats are really quiet animals. They meow in such a charming and gentle manner.

I could not figure out why my boy looked like he was wearing a chunky fur coat when I bathed him many years ago. The double coat thing is a give-away. I have had many cats before, but never encountered this!

My beautiful boy is the absolute gentleman, he has a great personality which I find easy to live with and very cool indeed. When I was really sick recently, he did not move from my side, he stuck next to me through thick and thin, but he is no lap cat believe me and when he gives affection it is completely on HIS terms! That is what I like about him.

My young daughter was given our boy by a friend when she was younger. My Tom is a housecat and does not go out, he is independent (no, not a lap cat!)

We were so very lucky to have him in the first place. I don't think we realised at first how very lucky we are. ♥️

My crazy kitty, Beezle, has the physical traits, except the green eyes. She has a ring of green around the pupil, but the rest is gold. Although, she would never be mistaken for being super friendly or calm. She’s also a prodigious hunter.

Omg this cat is awesome. I was totally lucky to get mine for free at 8 weeks old cause the women didn't want to deal with cats.

People: “How to tell if you cat is a REAL Russian Blue..?”

Me: “If it’s -9 Degrees Celsius with 17 MPH winds and your cat wants to stay OUTSIDE...it’s probably a Russian Blue!

She is rather beautiful and languid though, so I guess she is setting the bar high for Russian Blues everywhere eh?
Russian Mauve hasn't got that ring to it has it?
Of course she couldn't help playing to the camera when you were stroking her.
She just loves to re enact that famous scene from the first "Alien" film, where the creature erupts from the stomach of John Hurt.
Have a look and you'll see her preparing to shock us all.
I think she stopped because she was just getting so much pleasure from being stroked.
What a ham she is. : - )
Rainbows enclosed.

I just adopted a Grey silver kitten from a rescue and I was amazed he has more of a purple paw pads. Never seen that before now I am believing he is Russian blue. He has long legs and u can tell is lean. And the dark Grey nose. And all Grey no stripes. Very shiny in the light.

I took in a stray cat last year and I'm just now looking into the breed and finding out that he's possibly a Russian blue with a light tabby pattern

One behavior no one has talked about is my Russian Blue's tendency to attack me for no apparent reason. Normally, I go to bed and he jumps up on the bed, purrs, does a little grooming and curls up under my chin for the night. But once in a while, something goes wrong. I can see it coming. He jumps up on the bed but he is not purring and his eyes are totally black. He sits for about 30 seconds and then attacks my face with full teeth and claws. He has even drawn blood. I have no choice but to pin his shoulders to the bed, grab him by the scruff on the neck, and throw him off the bed. 30 minutes later he is back, purring and snuggling like nothing happened. Any idea what causes this behavior?

8-14-2021 - - - I got my Russian Blue cat as a kitten at the county animal shelter back in 1978. I think I paid $5 dollars. He lived 16 years. He could play ping pong with a wadded up ball of paper. Outdoors on a farm and indoors at night. He had a perfume-like grassy smell and was very clean. They will fight other cats so get them "tutored" at the vet when time is right. These are great cats.

So Very Beautiful! & Looks just like our Oliver ❤ 😊 Thank You for the information. He was adopted as an adult & not knowing his original back ground. I've always thought that he is a Russian Blue but as you mentioned it doesn't really matter other that just knowing out of curiosity. 😊
