How to Set up Your BMW Motorrad Connected App

Learn in this video how you can download and install the BMW Motorrad Connected app.

The BMW Motorrad Connected app allows you to navigate and exchange data with your connectivity-equipped BMW motorcycle. You can download the BMW Motorrad Connected app from Apple’s App Store or Google’s Play Store.

After installing and opening the app, it shows you what’s new. Accept the terms and conditions by checking the box and clicking on ‘Accept’. Depending on your mobile device, different permissions may be needed and the required choice to make it work may not be what you would have expected in the first place. Therefore, make sure to read the explanations carefully before making a choice. For the best possible experience with the BMW Motorrad Connected app, allow the app to always access your GPS position when activating tour recording, record speed and embed photos automatically. After accepting, agree to the legal notes. Please connect your motorcycle within the trial period of 14 days. After the trial period has elapsed, the app will stop working until a connectivity-equipped motorcycle is connected via Bluetooth.

On the start screen, you’ll find all the info you’ll need like weather, your ridden tours and your bike’s service status. When clicking on the second tab – Map –, you will need to download the maps of your desired regions or countries before being able to navigate. When downloading, please use Wi-Fi due to the size of the files. Automatically, it suggests the map data of the region in which you are at the moment. Worldwide map data is included and can be downloaded anytime. When downloading, please do not close the app. By clicking the third app tab, you can access your tours if you allowed tour recording. Set per default, every tour longer than 10 minutes or 2 km is stored. Feel free to change these settings, for instance, increase the minimum driving duration or distance to exclude daily commuting.

According to the K16 manual the Nav Function needs a WiFi hotspot and the K16 phone holder looks a mess. Is it possible to permanently put an old phone in that holder just for WiFi connectivity and use my regular phone for Bluetooth media and calls? If that's possible then is it possible to turn the SOS SIM into a WiFi hotspot and subscribe to T mobile like a BMW car? This would be a more elegant solution.

I have a 2018 R1200rt. Am I right to understand that I need the cradle to connect the bike to the app? Without it I can only use the navigation setting? But if I don’t use the cradle the 14 days trial will be over.

I have a 2022 RT LE, the app worked with my Pixel 6 Pro, however as I dropped it whilst fitting it in I have opted for a permanent phone in the compartment, the challenge is that this phone a Huawei P20 Pro, will connect via Bluetooth, and seems to have a wi-fi direct connection, however map mode just won't start. I've worked in IT for 40 years so I do have a pretty good idea how things work 🙂 It's really frustrating, I have deleted all connections, reinstalled the app, nothing. Reading some forums it appears I am not alone.

On my 2019 R1250RT there is no option to pair a phone in the Bluetooth settings, only Helmet 1 and Helmet 2. How do I pair the phone with the bike?

I have a 2022 R1250RT and a Sena 10R headset, I have the headset paired to the bike and my iPhone 14 Pro paired to the bike. The iPhone is not paired to the headset. While using Navigation the audio is thru the speakers, does not come thru the headset... If I turn on the radio, audio is thru the headset. Also, audio is thru the headset while using media or phone... What can I do to get the audio thru the headset while using navigation

Why does my app show I have two vehicles when I only have one? Half my rides are recorded on one vehicle and half on the other. I only have one RT but I deleted the second one and it deleted half of my rides. Then I rode again today and it created another vehicle again. Do you know why this is happening.?

The 2021 RT has a wireless charging compartment, which is essential for connectivity due to the increased battery usage for navigation. But there are is some confusion as to the dimensions of the compartment. According to the Configurator, the dimensions are 140 x 70 x 7.5. This would make it too small for the current Apple 12 Pro models. But if I follow the User Manual the dimensions are 162 x 78 x 8.8mm, making it even accommodating for the biggest iPhone (the 12 Pro Max is larger by 0.1mm in the width).

Could BMW provide some guidance for a potential buyer like me? I don't want to downsize my phone just because you couldn't make a compartment big enough on a already very large bike.

May I ask is the connected app is free? I'm confused with the message given. 14 days trail then if connected to bike get free 6 month and automatic extend 6 month for each new connection. <-- Does this imply is free only 6 months then if I want to continue use it i have to buy a new bike??

I have been using this app for three years. Unfortunately didn't find the option to add a new bike without loosing all trips with previous one. Of i just delete the old bike, I received warning I will loose all trips. Is there any option to archive old bike and keep trips?

My navigation stops when my phone screen turns off or when my phone is locked. I heard this is not supposed to be the case. I use a Samsung Note 20 ultra. Anyone has been able to solve this issue?

Having just bought the new 1250rt wich i have to say i am loving the bike but the app sometimes works with my helmet which is an interphone sports system. But wont charge my phone (samsung A21s software 11) I am told it has the laitest software on the bike ? can you help bmw

Works on my gs1250 but nothing on the rt1250. The app shows the gs but can't get it to show the rt. Why?
