It's crazy how the cigar humidor process is very similar to the acoustic guitar humidity process. I can actually use my guitar sponge cases to season my humidor! Still, this has got to be one of the best videos that I have ever seen on cigar humidors. Such a very clear video and it just cuts right through all of the garbage and only gives you the information you need! 
I smoked cigars many years ago and I recently gotten back into them after I purchased a humidor. I recently purchased a very beautiful humidor, which was brand new, from a secondhand place for $15 bucks. It came with everything inside wrapped and unused; along with instructions. I wasn't planning on this purchase, but when I researched it, I found that it was valued at $1, 200, so I had to buy it. Plus, buying this humidor was the perfect excuse for getting back into cigar smoking!

I gave up on wooden humidors. I live in the northeast and the cold dry winters make thse things a chore to keep the correct humidity. I created a couple coolidors with cedar slats and shelves and they hold the humidity perfectly.

This is probably the best method that I've seen. I'm not a believer in wiping the interior of a new humidor. That can impart too much water too quickly and cause the wood seals to warp. I seasoned a humidor for my cousin with basically the same method in this video. I took a clean shot glass and filled it with distilled water and i let it sit for a little over two weeks. at that point, more than half the water evaporated/absorbed into the humidor. Then I placed a digital hygrometer inside with humidification beads and watched it for a couple of days. After that it leveled out and it's been holding pretty steady for the past 4 months. Slow and steady is the best way.

I've seen many videos on or seasoning humidors and I think this is the best one. She explains the steps a more in detail. Although she does not recommend rubbing down the humidor with distilled water, she makes her case for the reason not too. Her other videos on humidors / cigars are very good as well.

I jsut got a new electric humidor. I filled the water tray with distilled water. Let it sit until it hit 70%. Put my cigars in, and it went down to 60%. I added 3 sponges with distilled water, one on each rack, until it came up to 70%, which was about 24hrs, and removed 1 sponge at a time until it stablized at about 70%. Whole process took 48 hrs.

I I just bought a humidor. I wiped it down with distilled water and placed the sponge in a bowl of distilled water let it sit in the humidor. I reached about 80% humidity in a day or two. So I took it out and used the humidifier it came with and put in Xhikar 70% solution. After 12 hours it read 70% so I was good. But then I put in 69% boveda packs in and keep getting a humidity level of 63-66%. I have enough packs for the amount of cigars it holds.

Hi! Great Video!  You mention a 7-14 day seasoning process, does the size of the humidor determine the amount of days the sponge is left in? I have a 50 count humidor, with a front mounted hygrometer, and a glass top. Thanks for the vid!

If the Humidor is seasoning and u have some cigars a sealed jar or Tupperware will work while the humidor gets ready.
