I recommend buying the blue Brita Elite filters. One blue filter lasts 3x as long as the standard white filters. The white filters comes in packs of 3. The blue comes with one. So they both last the same amount of time -- 6 months.

However, the blues filter out more contaminants than the white ones. They filter out lead, asbestos, microplastics, certain pesticides and pharmaceuticals, which the white ones don't.

They also cost almost the same, just a buck or two more. So there's really no reason not to buy the Elite filters instead. Plus there's less plastic waste. Oh yea you can recycle your Brita filters and dispensers for free through Terracycle.

How much water do you put in to fill it? Only to the fill line in the top reservoir? That doesn't really fill the pitcher.

My filter here in France doe=s not look like this. It's a white tank for the regular kind. The "indicator" is. ablue soft plastich rectangle that is supposed to count the number of tie I open the lid. But it is completely illegible and I have no clue when to change the filter. I just did and I now CANNOT PUT THE LID BCK ON~ And I cannot see how to do it. @Brita

what do you mean by "fill and empty the pitcher three times to rinse the filter" is this after rinsing the filter for 15 seconds?

So at the end of the video, the bottom "filtered" water section is filled up to where the filter is now immersed in the clean water. Is this okay? Or is the "clean" water getting contaminated by just having the filter soak in it? Clearly in order to fill the bottom chamber that high, you had to fill up the upper chamber 2 or 3 times. Is this what you're supposed to do?

It’s a stormy day outside in GA & I’m sitting here trying to figure out what to do with this wasted water from prepping the filter in the pitcher. Obviously my plants & flowers don’t need it. Also BRITA, if the number of ounces/gallons you say it will last for doesn’t include wasting the 1st three fill ups, then you should amend the number to the actual one.
