What's wrong with crossing ur legs, as long as ur not kipping it doesn't matter right?

Im not an expert so maybe im Wrong. But i get told, that its better to tighten legs (hope its the right translation), so that you dont take the energie from the motion by getting up from your legs. So its harder and more effectiv. Sorry im not a nativ speaker
