Pulling, gripping/bending the bar auto rotates your elbows in slightly giving better alignment for me. Took me 6 months to get my first pull amd dropping 40lbs in weight. What a feeling getting that first pull!

I started doing what you’re saying and I went from 0-2 pull-ups. It ain’t much but it’s something.

That day when you can crank out pull-ups and dips for double digits is one of the best memories for gym bros.

Cues are valuable. Most people don't know how to gain access to specific muscles so tricking lurselves like this really helps.

My favourite form que i tell people after describing activating the scapula, is instead of trying to pull yourself up to the bar, try to pull your elbows behind you instead.

I needed to see this. I have a very strong back and do everything from dumbbell rows, cable rows, landmines, etc and struggle with pull ups. I will definitely try this. Thanks.

This is why I love working out, sometimes you really can do the impossible you just need a change of mindset

I also followed your tip to brace your core first before pulling, totally made a huge the difference!

I used that machine that offsets your weight to get my first pull-up… Now I do regular pull-ups every week as a 42 year old mother of three… And JUST push-ups, pull-ups and dips a couple times a week got my upper body right!

I've been trying these ever since you introduced that method with Mr. McGill working with that powerlifter. The pump an explosiveness I feel is great and get more bang for my buck with the 10 sec rest in between. Thanks, Squat!

Excellent advice thank you. I’ve never been able to do a pull up in my life, now I can do 8!

Pull-ups were the same for me as dips. I just had to get focused and grind out the first ones. Then I started to do more every time. In weeks I was doing weighted dips. Pull-ups are progressing much the same way.

Grip strength makes alot of these exercises alot easier than you think.

Negatives are a really great exercises to help people build the strength to do a pull-up. I find they're better than band assisted pull-ups because you have to actually hold and stabilize yourself.

Farmers walk and after some weeks....there are no problems with pull ups..

After you get the first pull up done, you will see massive progress 3 or even 5 in a week or so. Very amazing feeling and then the only thing that can exceed that feeling is to do your first muscle up

Also engage your abs and lower body. The less energy you waste moving your lower half around, the more pull ups you’ll be able to do. I like to keep my legs straight and squeeze them together a little bit to engage them, but bent legs work too so long as you’re not swinging them around

All that + locking out your core and legs. That hella helped me go from a 1 set 5 rep max to a 1 set 20 rep max in less than a month

This is more useful information on pull-ups than I've heard from anyone ever, even when I had sessions with a personal trainer (sorry Happy, you were a delight of a person, I promise)
