The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan SEL R-Line Is A Tastefully Styled GTI Inspired SUV

A redesigned #VolkswagenTiguan is coming for 2025, but until then, American consumers can still purchase the latest #TiguanRLine until the next generation shows up next year. The #Tiguan got a pretty significant style update in 2022 and while the looks of the current #VWTiguan are handsome and almost GTI like with the #RLine package, it lacks the performance punch but that flaw should be rectified for the next generation.

Happy Monday guys! Hope you all have a great weekend. While the all-new 2025 Tiguan has already been revealed in Europe, that is the short wheelbase version that we won't get in the USA. We should be seeing the reveal of the US spec car by the end of this year, potentially at the LA Auto Show. Would you guys wait for the new model or purchase the current model?

Such a shame we don’t get the European powertrains here in the US. The proper r-line and the PHEV/Hybrids seem amazing.

Put a stage 1 tune on mine set me back 650 bucks and now my HP is 225 and torque is 285.

I agree, best looking design in the segment. Every car is trying to look like a spaceship.

I actually like the conservative and handsome styling that ages better than experimental fadish designs. We just need a better matched engine to give it more grunt and efficiency.

Such a great looking vehicle. VW outdid themselves with the exterior of the Tiguan.

Wish we got the full R version in the states

I think the issue is that if VW did make it the full GTI spec car then no one would upgrade to a Q5 which is literally this car with more power and more luxury

Your map was being projected to the dash why it wouldn’t pop up you have to switch it back to display on infotainment screen for next time great review !

I had a 2022 exact same exterior color and same trim. We resolved the lack of urgency of the engine by the APR tune that does not void the warranty. It certainly helped. But ultimately even though I think it has one of the most comfortable rear seats for long drives, we traded it in after 11 months and 14k miles because it was burning oil. It’s a known issue and VW doesn’t seem to care. We could have easily just done 5k oil changes and it wouldn’t have been a problem but we also wanted a quieter cabin on the freeway. There is a fair amount of road noise that comes through compared to the Atlas we had before it. So, we upgraded to a 2023 BMW X3 M40i. Much more power and less road noise. Better tech too. Love it!
By the way, on a side note, while it doesn’t have the greatest ground clearance, the Tiguan’s off-road mode was quite impressive automatically using DAC/HAC without engaging. Very nice!

With about $1000 you can unleash the power to APR stage 3 and some euro specs mods to make this a prime mean compact SUV

Just bought this today. Have had 3 GTI’s. I had it delivered to my house so I haven’t driven it yet. I imagine I will be ultra disappointed and will do a tune ASAP. Traded my 22 Sorento Ex with 281 Hp. Have had a 22 Kona N and Veloster N and both were beyond peppy. Salesman told me that the tune voids the warranty…. Hope not

All of those limitation that were mentioned have been addressed in the redesign European car. But its unknown how much of the updates will carry over to the 2025 model. Hopefully all of them.

I really liked this current design from the beginning, but was disappointed it didn't come in R trim to North America. It seemed strange since we only get the top Golf GTI, and Golf R, yet the Tiguan is the company's best seller in the States. Maybe it was because there was no long wheel-base R?

If they overcome that limitation with the redesigned car, I'll buy it.

Apparently we are getting a larger Tiguan based on the Tayron, which is boxier. The new Tiguan in Europe is very attractive, it’s rounder than the old model. It seems Europe always gets the better looking ones and we’re shut out. Mazda CX60 comes to mind too.
