Pros & Cons.. 2022 Toyota Corolla SE Manual Sedan

I personally think an SE model with the manual is the best spec since the LE models comes with a lackluster 1.8l engine. The XSE and Apex model is just too much money for what this is. And after building a few models on Toyota’s website, the Hatchback doesn’t seem to offer many desirable combinations. The fuel economy even with the 2.0l engine is excellent so the hybrid model isn’t necessary. Overall, this is still a solid choice when compared with the new Civic, Mazda 3, & Hyundai Elantra.

Nice video. This might be about the only new car I'd buy. Love to see the manual trans hanging around, as I'm not a CVT fan, and manuals are fun. Nice to see both Direct and Port injection on the 2.0 engine. Glad to see this more affordable car being reviewed, versus the overrated SUVs.

Love this car. Love it so much that I ended up buying this model (2022 SE 6 MT) in pearl white. I must agree the only thing I strongly dislike is not having a manual hand brake. Other than that, the car is amazing, looks great, comfortable, great mpg, good price, good warranty and Toyota reliability👍.

Great review 🤩, I recently purchased one like this with the 6sp manual SE. I love it and I know I’ll always have it no matter what else I buy. I never wanted one until this body style.

Great looking car, Toyota did a great job with the 2022. I have a 2005 Corolla and it’s still going great after 224281 miles..

Something to mention. Those complaining about the noise level in the new Corolla SE. I just bought one 2022 upgrade SE model. The beginning it was little noise but after 3500KM the noise completely disappeared. It’s the most smoothest and fast midsize sedan own in this category. Best decisions ever made, also better fuel mileage.

This convinced me to take the leap of faith and get a ‘21 or ‘22 depending on dealership availability. I have a ‘92 manual, still runs and will pass it to my brother as a daily. I tested the ‘21 manual and it drives similarly to an old school manual. I will decide by this week whether to buy the vehicle or wait for a ‘22 order.

I drove a new Jetta and Corolla. The Jetta was roomier, more comfortable, and quieter. But it lacked character. The Corolla had more connected steering, better shifter feel in the manual, better handling. Just felt much more connected.

I knew it had something to do with the pedals being too far apart! I couldn't try heel-toe on this thing for the life of me. Still definitely fun taking it on some curves with the SE trim suspension. First and 2nd gear are definitely the noisiest since they're pretty much physically the biggest gears which means more surface area for sound to be generated with the forces they're going through

DOES THIS COROLLA HAVE BLIND SPOT WARNING AND COME IN A HATCHBACK WITH 6PD. MANUAL.

I like everything about this car! Only slight aspect I don’t care for is that ghastly enormous front grill

Thanks for this review! Love Corollas! Bought a new one, manual transmission in 2002 and it still runs very well. Passed it on to a friend :). I now own 2022, manual transmission, with a physical hand brake. I am a short person and didn’t like those what seemed like pretty „high pedals” at first, difficult to balance. So I got creative, bought 3 pairs of platform shoes and doubled on floor mats. I agree with you regarding the gears - took me a while.

Is the hatchback SE COROLLA with 6 spd. Manual noisier than the Corolla sedan inside interior? What can one do to cut down interior noise? Add more insulation?🤔
I am not a mechanic and I don't have tools. For a comfortable ride can the low profile tires with bigger wheels be replaced with smaller wheels and tires from the XE model? I think on base Corolla XE model comes with 16 inch wheel and tires that should provide more rubber for better cushion and comfortable ride. Plus those regular tires cost less to replace and don't wear out fast as those low profile sticky tires.

Great review, I just don't know how dollar for dollar you get a better value. The Honda is great, but the styling is a little busy for my taste, the Mazda is a great driving car, but again, if its my money, Toyota is the way I go.

I have 30k miles on my '21 se and it feels broken in and like a proper manual transmission car. The video is right because I do feel I want to keep it for a long time. Cheap fun cars don't come around too often.

How's the rev hang on this car? At least compared to Civics?

No offense Kevin, you weren't meant to drive the Corolla, at least not as your own personal vehicle, maybe for the channel, sure, I understand. Lots of respect for the car (including the Tercel and Camry) that put Toyota on the map and gave rise to Lexus in 1989.

AVAILABLE IN HATCH BACK WITH BLIND SPOT MONITORING?🤔
IS IT MORE RELIABLE THAN CIVIC COUNTER PART AND HONDA TURBO ENGINES?🤔

Thank you for addressing the pro and cons with the manual. I got a 22 Corolla Hatch XSE and experienced the same thing. The winding and the 1st, 2nd gear feel odd. Love my hatch tho.
