Before COVID, I tried hitting 100 in each hand with a friend but they collapsed on me. This month, I hit 100’s for 3 reps. Major accomplishment. After 2 weeks of training, I finally pressed 110’s with no help, new PR. Felt unbelievable.

My old high school football coach was a former NFL offensive lineman. We pretty much got 110 and 120 lb dumbbells in our HS gym for him. Nobody else ever touches them except to do the occasional goblet squat

Honestly, the hardest part about this exercise is getting set up. I was doing dumbell presses with two 100s, and on my third set I almost injured my arm by getting the weights situated above my chest. lol

Loving all the positivity in this video. I’m at 35s now and hopefully I’ll get there Bros!

I can easily hit the 145 lb dumbbells, but one day I would like to be able to actually lift them... 🏋🏻

Had a friend in high school all natural, 100kg guy and he was manipulating 50kg dumbells ( around 120 lbs) like nothing, was able to push them for 20 reps and more. He was exeptionally strong. I remember that for dumbell pull ups, he put himself together a 90kg ( 200 lbs) dumbell. And his technique was exeptional. That was most amazing part of it. Some guys are just genetic freaks in strengh. Shame is that now he is a truck driver and he is massively over weight...

Super impressive dude, keep at it! Personally I can only do 70's for 5 but I hope to reach that level someday!

My wife and I were walking through an exercise equipment consignment place. We saw some 100lb dumbbells and my wife asked me what kind of freak of nature you'd have to be to use those. I casually walked up, grabbed one in each hand, proceeded to do three curls on each side, and then set them back. Her eyes were as big as saucers. And yeah, my arms ached for almost a week afterward, but it was so worth it. lol

I remember sticking with 70s and 80s for the longest time until one day I was training with a buddy who said to go heavier. I managed to put up 90s for 3 reps despite never having tried.

I learned right then and there that you are capable of more than you know if you stop limiting yourself.

Getting into position is the hardest part. I don't care how many reps it is, the sit down into press just to "rack" the dumbell always makes me feel strong on its own.

-half reps
-elbows flared out almost fully to the side limiting range of motion and increasing injury risk
No doubt u are strong but with proper form and full ROM u will make no more than 6 reps.

I am almost hitting 100s now for 8 reps. When I first started lifting I would stare at those 100s at the far end and be like damm I cant ever do it. But after 3 years I can do it which I never thought possible. Started from 50s and went to 100s in 3 years. My body did surprise me at what I was capable of

Not full range of motion, but still impressive af

I trained hard for 2 years to get to 90lb db chest press at a 165lb body weight, I thought I was getting strong, then I trained with a work friend who casually threw that up as a warm up for shoulder press, I learnt a newb lesson that day

Having personally experienced this, there is nothing comparable to grabbing the large, dust covered dumbbells at the end of the rack and hitting a set with them. People usually sell themselves short on what the human body is physically capable of. Not only is it a huge ego boost when people notice it, but who knows who you're inspiring to reach further than they thought they could.

It's why I hate the whole Planet Fitness mentality. I have never been in a gym, saw a person (and there are many) totally crushing my PRs and thought 'damn, I'm ashamed'. It's just motivated me to push further and work harder so I could be at their level. The gym isn't about ego. They only person you're competing against in there is the old you.

Do half reps with DBs on incline and no one bats an eye.
But bench pressing with a huge arch and everyone loses their mind.

I was hitting 110 for reps on incline bench. Then I had a bicycle accident and a surgery which put me in bed for 3 months. Horrible times for someone who used to train every day for years. It's been 4 years now since that, and I have barely trained... All the energy which I put in the gym I put in the work now, and it has paid off but I've neglected my body too much.. It's time to get back in shape, and break some previous PRs

If any of the people in America say those are only 50, it means 50kg! Love it Tomigains, good luck on your upcoming meet!
