Manufacturers don't recommend that you spray throttle body cleaner near the pivot points. It washes out the lubricant and you may end up with a sticking throttle body. They recommend you use a rag saturated with throttle body cleaner to wipe out the bore.

You should remove the throttle body from the air intake manifold before doing the cleaning process, otherwise you have the chance of throw dust inside the cilinders and maybe lock the engine.

I work as a technician. I will say we dont usually touch the throttle body during fuel service. But ours is aimed at the direct injection (and port injection) engines to clean out the carbon buildup on those injection points.

Going above and beyond has gotten me in trouble more times than it hasn't 😂 (creating new problems and more work for myself, i.e. now this thing has a fast idle).. and at best it went unnoticed and unappreciated. I just do my job these days lol. Nice shots though brother! 💯

Great video! However I was always told not to touch electronic throttle body butterfly valves. As they can become “out of sync” I guess you could say. I prefer to take it off and clean both sides without moving the valve if possible

It is not recommended to force open the throttle valve, especially if it is an electric throttle body. You can permanently break it :)

Great job but I recommend you removing it to clean the interior side as well, also prevents spraying/pushing cleaners and dirt into the manifold

you use the right TB Cleaner, you just stripped away the Teflon coating and increased the Base Idle to 2500 rpm.

Question: How many customers have come back for a sticky throttle?
Typically throttle blades are coated in a special coating (i forget the name of it), and it’s easily cleaned off with any abrasives or harsh cleaners. Lessons learned when cleaning your own TB housings 😅
