When an engine is shut off, there are often one or more intake valves open and the residual fuel vapors as well as oil vapors from the PCV system are trapped behind the throttle plate until the next startup. There will always be a buildup in that area. I always recommend to have the throttle body cleaned every couple years.

It can also be the pcv valve that needs to be replaced.

My 2011 Honda Accord had the same problem and I had a mechanic that wanted to replace the valves. I wanted to make sure of his diagnosis so I want to friend that my son uses and after going through the core he noticed under the body throttle there was a lot of wires coming out the wiring corners and he noticed one of the wires were broken, so he put two wires together fix the wire which was thin thread wire when you’re sewing and I got a bill from him for over $300 for the job. The other person wanted $900 and that was an even the problem so I would suggest getting a couple opinions if you can if your car will let you, don’t jump on the first opinion

Some throtles can break by manually opening them. Have a buddy press the gas pedal

I sprayed mine with a bunch of cleaner. Is that a good idea or not??? I'm wondering if that's my problem, the feul pressure regulator. Are they expensive??

I have a 2013 Silverado 4.8 and it drives at 20mph but when I accelerate it revs high rpm’s and doesn’t go what does it mean

Could this happen if my 02 sensors went out recently replaced and had to clean my throttle body?

I open mine like that it squirts about 30cc of fuel straight down the intake manifold! But it's hard to even see it because there's a choke plate in the way...and a venturi...

I’ve got an issue with my 94 Chevy 4.3 Silverado when accelerating is very slow the engine definitely sounds like it’s working but it gets up to speed weakly and at around 40mph the engine shakes bad and it’s not motor mounts I’ve looked at everything

I have a 2012 Chevy Impala. I was driving it and it shut off and I was smelling gas underneath the hood but I pulled the oil stick out it had gas on it. Anybody help me out with this problem

that's probably oil from the engine because the air that comes out from the engine and goes to the air system has oil in it that's why some people install oil catch can

Could also be bad intake valve/valves not seating and piston blowing air charge back through intake.
Put hand over throttle body and if you feel any pressure popping back at your hand it's a bad intake valve seat, if not it's probably one of the other problems also mentioned above.
