To practice throwing a spiral, do this. Lay on your back with a football in your throwing hand. Now just practice throwing it to the ceiling ( without hitting the ceiling) and catching it when it comes down. Now start spinning the ball out of your hand over and over until you get the feel for it. Then work on spiralling it as close to the ceiling as you can without hitting the roof, then having the ball come straight back down to where you released it from. Once you have the feel for spinning the ball into a spiral and a little bit of ball control, go ahead and start throwing from your feet, concentrate on accuracy and then velocity as you feel more and more confident. Once you can do all this, start really stepping into your throws and develop arm velocity with proper ball spin and then you are set.

This tutorial is good for beginners, but this leaves out a lot of other important things such as hip and shoulder disassociation, proper align, etc.
Also, what he said about shoulders being perpendicular is not completely correct. You should have your shoulders parallel with each other and lined up with your target before the throw, and then parallel when you rotate through. Also, your hand should not be above your head before the throw; it should be behind your shoulder at less than a 90 degree angle, then you bring it to 90 degrees as you bring the ball up. Then, you throw the ball and you extend your arm and release the ball while rotating your wrist so that your palm is facing outward.

In fact, Terry Bradshaw used to leave his index finger on the back end of the ball. In my experience, QBs only have 2-3 fingers on the laces, and honestly that really only matters in terms of comfort. As long as your index finger is the last finger to touch the ball and you square up your shoulders, your good.
He also failed to mention only Launchers hold the ball above the shoulders, that isn't necessary. He also failed to talk about footwork, something I reasonably expected to learn from a FB

I really wish he'd mentioned footwork. FBs obviously hold the ball in a different spot than QBs, so he was actually teaching something bad on that.
Footwork is sooo important for a QB, and coming from a FB I expected something about that, as it plays a role on the spiral. Hell I'd been more happy if he'd talked about the exchange from QB to HB/ TB/ FB

I was going to comment this as well. Would also have helped to have seen the throw from multiple angles and slowed down a bit.

I was at a basketballcourt (EU) and my neighbour boys were watching as I threw a perfect spiral 30 yards INTO the basket..
That was such a sweet moment, and F*CKING lucky :D
