Breaking the fast at the World’s Largest Iftar. #eid #shorts

Each night of Ramadan, thousands of pilgrims come together to pray and break the fast at the holy shrine of Imam Reza, in Mashhad, Iran. It’s the world’s largest iftar, a meal eaten after sunset by Muslims observing Ramadan to break their daily fast. Cooking for such a crowd starts early and goes long. Over 400 volunteer chefs arrive at 5 a.m. to make culinary magic from 2 tons of fresh vegetables, 3 tons of meat and 4 tons of rice.

This story is a part of our Flavors series, where we do so much more than play with our food. Come with us as we dive into deliciously different and tastefully off-beat stories in the culinary world.

So amazed at this devotion. Cooking food for so many people while fasting yourself for the sake of your brethren that are devoting themselves for the sacred tradition. Amazing!

People really would be surprised by the loyalty of Muslims to Islam, there are lots of people here who say people cheat the fasting but in reality, as a Muslim myself, I have never broken my fast before al-maghrib since I hit puberty and since then it became easy to do. Volunteers and things like this are done also in other Muslim countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

why does a video with Muslim in the title spiral into a disgusting hate cesspool in the comments every time. Have some RESPECT people!

I've only met around 10 Muslims before, but all 10 were the most kind, principled, and selfless people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Its always amazing to see this peoples works durung Ramadhan. Because they are also fasting and they work with food and during the breaking fast or iftar, they served the food to the observers before they breaking their fast.
