When I was a kid, I would often read a Children's Bible that was in the waiting room of a doctor's office. In that particular Bible, it was explained that Eve was not startled by the talking snake because she was actually delighted to have someone new to talk to other than Adam or God. Not to say any version/theory is right or wrong, I just thought this idea was worth a mention.

Before Adam and Eve leave the garden of Eden he creates garments for them to wear. In one final act of love for his disobedient children he gives them the protection they will need to survive in a much harsher environment than they're used to and by example teaches them how to craft more garments for themselves.
It speaks volumes about the nature of God himself and the trials he sets before us. Despite overwhelming odds he is always ready to provide what is needed to persevere - even when we don't deserve it.

I wish religion was presented like this more often. This is much more interesting and logical to me; had it been presented in this way when I was in a religious high school I might’ve stuck around!

This is amazing because a lot of these things my theology professors shared with us my first semester in bible college. They said- “This will more likely challenge your beliefs as a Christian, rather than reinforce them.”

Paul who wrote most of the New Testament believed that Adam was a real person. In Roman's 5:12 he wrote that sin entered the world through one man (referring to Adam)

Hang on, there were two important trees in the garden of eden. The first bore fruit regarding the knowledge of good and evil while the other bore fruit as referenced in Genesis 3:22, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”

I LOVE that you did this...you should do one explqining how the Catholic belief of not eating meat on Friday has to do with a sheep shortage but abundance of fish which leads to the common misconception that Fish isnt considered meat in the Catholic faith

I remember our parish priest preaching us that we should "read the text in context." It was a very accurate way of educating us on the wisdom of the Bible.

Both Christian and non-christians often times are confused about the context and meaning of their religion. Im very happy you made this video!

LOVED this video. The crazy thing is that I’ve come to so many of these conclusions by approaching the Bible and science as complementary- after all, our pursuit of scientific discovery was originally God’s instruction to mankind.

But I do find it ironic that, in an animated format for a video themed around “things the church don’t want you to know, ” you represented Adam and Eve as Caucasian. 😂😂

As a lifelong Christian and someone who has read the Bible through several times in different translations, I would like to compliment you on the job you did here. Many, though not all, of the conclusions you came to here are the same ones I came to myself, mostly by myself, from reading the texts over and over and trying to juxtapose that between symbolism practices in teachings at the time of authorship, and also trying to rectify science and spirituality.
I'd have to talk to you for at least another 80 hours to know if I agree with what you think about the subject as a whole, but I appreciate the job you did on this portion of it. Happy Easter!

"Apple" was just a slang term for "fruit." There's one guy who says it was a pomegranite, since it's consequences were much like that of a grenade.

I like to believe that the fruit of the Tree of knowledge of Good and evil is Knowledge in and of itself. Much like the hammer of Thor, Mjolnir, "Tis a tool to build, or a weapon to destroy." We have the capability to end world hunger but what do we do with the knowledge we have attained? We instead choose to split atoms, smashing them together to create new particles and such.

Source: trust me bro. When the Bible is meant to be taken as symbolism it says this like it did with revelation.

This was an amazing video!

While there were a few points in this video where the you talk about what the most wildly held beliefs are when it comes to interpretations, you did fail to provide a source which can bring problems in these discussions so i wish you had provided some.

Additionally, i wish you had spoken on the whole time thing and how, when taking relativity into account, both literal and figurative interpretations on the statements about time still fit together nicely.

That being said, for what you had time to cover, this is one of the best videos on these topics i have ever seen.

the tree of life is different from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. so revelation 22:7 doesn't necessarily mean that God was some point going to allow them to eat from the tree of knowledge. (not saying was or wasn't) just that revelation 22:7 is talking about the tree of life not the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

This was excellent, I love how you tied things together and explained them objectively and used references without overwhelming with info, well done

Revelation 22:7, KJV: Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

I believe the verse you're talking about is Revelation 2:7

Also, Genesis 2:9, KJV: And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the TREE OF LIFE also in the midst of the garden, and the TREE OF KNOWLEGDE OF GOOD AND EVIL.

2 separate trees that God is referring to.

Genesis 2:16-17 KJV: And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

From the creation of man, they were never supposed to die, thus God not allowing them to eat from the TREE OF LIFE. Thus when they ate from the tree that was the day that started their death.
Rev 2:7 is referring to the same TREE OF LIFE when the "victorious", is in the paradise(heaven) of God. Since they are in the paradise of God therefore there is no longer any death. Just like in the Garden of Eden.

There are a few issues with the story:
1. If God is omniscient, he foresaw the fall, so why make the garden at all and put the trees and serpent there?
2. The Jews do not see the serpent as Satan. To the Jews, Satan is an angel of God without being evil. Nor does it make sense to punish all snakes because Satan disguised himself as one. In addition, the text says that the snake is cunning.
Satan does not crawl on his belly in other passages either.
3. God lies when he says people will die if they eat the fruit. The snake tells the truth. And humans couldn't have been immortal before, otherwise the passage doesn't make sense about God being afraid, humans eat the other fruit and become immortal.

The reason why it is depicted as an apple is because in Malum means apple in latin but it also has a double meaning as evil, therefore when the garden is painted and depicted its pictured as an apple.
