I found it interesting that an Asian guy is doing the Western Boxing and a White guy is doing the Wing Chung. Shows how much knowledge has been exchanged all over the globe throughout the past few decades. :)

I wish most Wing Chunner actually trained this way. Sparring like this is how you get to the point that you can use this stuff in a real fight. Most Wing Chunners I encounter just hit wooden posts, practice techniques against slow moving peers, and do that flowing hands stuff. That's nice and all, but you won't be able to really put that to use under pressure unless you spar. And this is the result when you put technique training and live sparring together. You become a fighter who can really use all that theory when someone is trying to take your head off.

Now if only the majority of Wing Chun students started practicing like this, we'd be getting somewhere.

Finally, an aggressive Wing Chun "versus" X video. Too often I'm seeing Wing Chun videos where WC practitioners are waiting to counter and just failing. This shows the potential of Wing Chun. And I'm a boxer and Muay Thai guy.

One of the better (and more realistic) Wing Chun match-ups I've seen. Good to see the boxer doing takedowns too. May be amateurish, but it's always a good thing when any art puts themselves up to actual sparring. Great job!

Finally someone who actually applies the techniques with the straight punches

To all those haters out there there is no fighting style that's better than another it comes down to the level of skill of the practitioner.

I like the Wing Chun student's direct and progressive movements when he was being aggressed. He displayed good timing and control of his attacks and counters. Whether or not he was sparring a true boxer, his good techniques give us an example of how this scenario might have played out in a self - defense situation. More than likely the Guy with boxing gloves could have been the loser.

Also, i like how the "boxer" goes for leg takedowns like twice.... Totally something i see every boxer doing in the ring by -_-

Nice sparring. Unlike other wing chun guys in youtube this practitioner had good footwork. Which in my opinion was very important. T

yeah because a boxer would keep their hand out like that the whole time, right?
he is no boxer, he just a fellow *wearing* boxing gloves.

here's the answer to this long heated debate: shut up and train in both. Obviously both styles offer benefits, why waste your time overthinking each side's faults instead of capitalizing on their pros?

Ive noticed something funny, a wing chung fighter loses a fight - ha, see, wing-tsung is useless etc, but does a wing tsung fighter look better in a fight, or even wins, people go like: where is boxing, my grandma fights better etc. Lol, as someone said: haters gona hate, keep hating if u like, that won't change the fact, that wing-tsung works.

ahahah the crying in this thread is amazing. "Oh he isn't a real boxer" oh really? Because everyone i fight who boxes does everything this guy does and more. Including at times keeping the hands out in a guard. The crying on here is amazing

I used to take Wing Chun, but after about half a year of hard repetitive training I had to ask myself what I wanted in terms of martial arts. Did I want to study Wing Chun for 5 years or more until I could finally learn how to street fight? Not really. I realized I wanted to learn a sport that would keep me physically fit, had a competitive aspect (just for fun), and was simple enough for me to pick up in a few months. That's why I transitioned to Muay Thai. I also do Kali tho (just because I'm Filipino, not really for fighting). Muay Thai is more fun for me because I didn't have to spend hours practicing a couple techniques and I am also able to spar with more contact. And the cardio conditioning would be a big help if I need to run away from a fight, which in my opinion is way more practical and easy than trapping.

Damn! Niceee, this is what an Ip Man fight would look like in real life without the epic music and the twists and turns of the camera where you can appreciate every technique and move well.

The more I have seen in the arena of martial arts and combat systems over the years the more I begin to value Wing Chun.

Why is this boxer better at doing takedowns than he is at boxing?
