“I had to try.”

This implies an explanation of why it took all her remaining regenerations.

It didn’t.

She just had no clue exactly how to do what she did and just emptied the whole tank, presumably unnecessarily. Unlike when the doctor heals her wrist later but it’s a more controlled process.

It’s been bugging me.

1:47 Can we just stop for a moment and admire how beautiful is the regeneration energy here? I swear, they've never been able to make regeneration energy look that believable again. Actually, I think that's the only moment of the New WHO that is absolutely wonderful, almost magical. It would be great if the Doctor in the New Who regenerated like at, at least for once, without being so dramatic, with his open arms and standing like a champ. There's really something beautiful at seeing the Doctor dying just like a normal man, and giving place to another, like in the Classic WHO.

Episode 7 is where we find out how River is Melody, and Episode 8 we find out how Melody is River

1:58 Such a wholesome shot. River waking up to her parents smiling at her and her mother saying "Hey" so casually.

I really appreciate you uploading so many scenes, it immensely helps me with making DW edits! If you haven't already, can you upload the scene where child River regenerates? (It's in Day of the Moon I think).

"we just leave her there?" it would have been a beautiful ending to river's story if she had decided to change the future/her past so that amy and rory actually got to raise her as their daughter. the show never really dealt with the ramifications of amy and rory losing their child in a satisfactory way.

and now that we’ve had the timeless child, we know how unnecessary this was, because the Doctor has unlimited generations. Somehow. Just shows what a ridiculous plot line that was.

I always wondered if it was her human half that allowed her to regenerate at will

Amy Pond is River Song's mother. See how River called Amy Mother.

This was a bit silly I have to say, all the Melody Pond storyline, but it just about worked out. The storyline had good parts to it. The Timeless Child....I don't know what to say about it, truly I don't; perhaps, possibly, ....a good idea, but terribly executed. It has complicated and, somewhat, messed up Doctor Who history, which is disrespectful to the show's past and status. I love Doctor Who, but Chris Chibnall's time as writer has forced me away, and saddened me greatly, due to very bad writing. An example of very good writing, dealing with a potentially complicated storyline, was the creation of the War Doctor, including the transition from the superb 8th Doctor, my favourite Doctor Mr Paul McGann, through to the War Doctor, the late John Hurt (RIP) and then Chris Eccleston, the 9th Doctor, all of whom played the Time Lord superbly well. This storyline was well written and well executed, very coherent with great surprises. Jodie Whittaker is a good actor/actress, and has had some good moments as the Doctor, let down by terrible writing, and the inclusion of way too much political correctness; it is heartbreaking. This is science fiction/fantasy, not BBC Question Time or any other political programme. I don't know what will happen to Doctor Who, but hopefully RTD will bring some fun, good storylines back to the show amid the likely remaining PC content. I live in hope; please bring us back a Doctor Who we know and love...please!!!!

We'll never forgive you for what you did with regeneration, Chinballs. Get shat on.

There are two aspects that bother me even upon rewatching. Firstly, the apparent lack of interest from Amy and Rory (parents) towards River (their daughter). It feels as if they couldn’t have been less concerned about whether they’d ever see their daughter again. Secondly, when the family reunion, the interaction still felt cold. The Ponds always showed affection for each other, so why couldn’t there be a bit more love or interest shown towards River, a.k.a. Melody? It’s disappointing, and surprisingly, it seems like no one has really addressed this before.

If River used up all her regeneration powers, would that make her mortal and more likely to being killed ?

Back in the day, the Doctor wasting regeneration energy wasn't a problem.
Now it's unlimited regenerations meaning that if The Doctor wasted energy nowadays it doesn't matter considering Chibnall shitted on it and regeneration isn't a fear anymore. I understand that Jodie seemed to be like "Let's get it on with." I don't deep dive into stuff so correct me. The Doctor was only like that because there's unlimited regenerations. I watched the reveal and she didn't want to believe that The Timeless Child was her, but still it was probably because of that.
