Matt Smith, being the youngest ever to play the Doctor, was so, so good at portraying just how old the Doctor was, and how much they have seen and lost.

I love how the doctor stops the “young and happy” act when he’s alone.

''I saw the birth of the universe and I watched as time ran out, moment by moment until nothing remained, no time, no space, just me''

The moment Matt Smith started to cry really hit me. This was such a moving scene. Would be amazing if he could return for the 60th anniversary

Interesting how the doctor stops pretending that he is a young man when nobody is around him. That breaks my heart

This speech reminds me of the phrase River Song once said : "Everyone knows that everyone dies and nobody knows it like the Doctor, but I do think that all the skies of all the worlds might just turn dark if he ever, for one moment, accepts it."

Instead of a gun, a screwdriver
An extra heart for extra compassion
Near-omniscience to know who is in pain
Because, what the universe really needs...
Is a Doctor

How did I only realise just now he was talking about the toymaker at the laws of physics, after the specials it's so obvious

The pain in his voice when he says "no time, no space-just me!" And "I have lost things you will never understand!" makes me cry even to this day. Matt Smith portrayed the Doctor's age and the pain of virtual immortality so well

Matt being 25 at the start of Doctor Who and then leaving 3 years later, I'll forever and still miss him.

This will always be who the Doctor is, to me.

When Eleven was being born, he fell from the sky and answered a scared little girl’s prayer to be saved. He was still forming, and so he formed himself into her protector.

And here again. Even now, even still; standing between a scared kid and her scary monster, offering himself in her place.

And he doesn’t even think he’s a hero.

Maybe not. But he’s my hero anyways.

I remember at least 1 producer leaving the show (Forgetting his name) he was outraged that a 27 year old was the new Doctor. He said "The Doctor can be young in appearance but the actor should be old enough that you believe he could be king of his own Universe" Of the many things that makes this so iconic and special this scene really leaves him with egg on his face. 1 of the reasons Matt was Cast was because he embodies an old man in a young man's body perfectly and this is the best example of that. So powerful 👌

The 11th doctor is an incredible character,
He keeps up morale, he keeps everyones head over the water, he is the mechanic fixing everything while he himself is broken.
“He may be the most broken person in this room, but he still stands and managed his way to fix all of those around him.”
While other people show the doctors determination, anger, power, this doctor emphasises his grief.

This was the scene where I truly realized that the Doctor is a broken man that does his best to keep a smile on his face for the sake of those around him

In each series there is a moment where the companion sees the real Doctor. He isn't a silly old man with a box, he's ancient and terrible, he has caused the deaths of entire civilizations and is feared by both the innocent and guilty alike. He is a god for many and hell incarnate for others.
They notice this and for a second, they are also terrified of him.
Then its over, and he's just a silly old man with a box again...

I would like to send this scene to everyone that is surprised by how Matt Smith is amazing in House of the Dragon, he's always been an incredible actor who truly can portrait the emotions and personality of a character.

I have never enjoyed TV as good as these days. The music has got to be one of the greatest of all television at the time.
