Just put my resignation 2 weeks ago. It felt like I lost a 100 kgs from my shoulders. One of the best feeling I had in over 2 years.

I left a job 8 months ago that was sucking the life out of me. All I found myself doing was venting all the time - at work and at home. This video completely reflects what I was going through. I had to re-skill at 53 years old and change careers. Now I love my work and future growth opportunities.

I literally got driven out of a job in only 2 months where I was actually a good performer. Boss felt threatened by me and wanted to put all the stops - excessive criticism, no praise, put downs and even missing instructions. Final straw was when all my work was ignored, something I spent 2am doing until while my dad was in hospital. I left 2 weeks ago and although markets a bit tough now and gotta be determined, I absolutely don’t regret my decision. You inspired me to give me the power to do that thanks!

Put my 2 weeks in 2 weeks ago. New job is mucccch betttterrrr. Intimidation, gossip, and discrimination is what led me to leave. But it pushed me out to a way better opportunity.

People thought I was crazy for quitting jobs but none of the last 3 I’ve had had any path toward growth.

I put in my two weeks last week, but decided to quit on Monday(07/22/2024) and wrote an email to clear my name to my department because of work toxicity. Told them that I will respect myself and that I am leaving and cannot honor my two weeks on my last day. I feel happier and a weight off my shoulders, and then today I got a job offer that is willing to pay me $20k more than my toxic work job. Wish me luck!

I quit my job Thursday June 27, 2024 at 7:49am. After being there for 1 year and 9 months it was time for me to go. Coworkers and Managers constantly watching my every move. Watching were I ate my lunch and parked my car. Even though I'm unemployed at the time. I'm relieved not to be in that toxic workplace anymore. Thank you for this positive video message. I really needed to hear this.

I left in Oct. a job that I LOVED doing but had many downsides such as a toxic workplace, over worked and burnt out, low mental health and self esteem, and would be so anxious to go into work I once loved and thought was my dream. I was so scared to leave something I spent my time, money, and education on but I ultimately had the support from my parents and had a rainy day fund since I took overtime.

Now I’m starting my new job next month where the boss seems really personable and I am only hope and pray that this is where I was meant to be and grow and learn.

Fingers crossed. After a long time of crying before work by being scared to be ostracized, to crying for leaving my dream job as a result of the people, not the actual job itself in a way, to now feeling like I have found the light of opportunity and hopefully find the place I’m meant to be at.

Sad everyday when I go in to the office, don’t trust the people around me. It’s dead end, no challenge and I’m late everyday or every other day. I can’t wait for the weekend. I feel stressed because of abuse going on being blamed for things and physically sick

I left an incredibly toxic, corporate job a few years ago. It got to where I dreaded my alarm going off every morning, cried in the parking garage daily on my lunch break and just about had a complete mental breakdown. Management had suddenly changed and it was nothing like it once was when I took the job. (5 years prior) they had a major buy out and became massively corporate (it literally became like a corporate version of "The Hunger Games" everyone was out for themselves and would do anything and everything to survive/get ahead). I became increasingly unhappy with the values of the company (or lack of). I was lucky I had a "rainy day fund" and financially could survive a few months while job searching. That's the most valuable advice I can give any gen z Always have a backup emergency account with atleast 6 months of income to where you can live comfortably. You never know when a job can shift, management becomes toxic, etc. and if you need to get out you can do so.

Time to go is when you’ve applied for something within the company they’ve denied you but then except you to train the incoming new manager. That happened to me in 2015 I applied for the managers role having being in the company for 7 years I thought I’d be an easy pick, however, I was told I wasn’t going to be shortlisted and I was expected to train the new manager when they arrived. The next day I handed in my notice which was the test decision I’ve ever made on my life. They tried to bribe me to stay with BS pay rise but I rejected their offer and told them what I thought of their organization. Funny enough they went out of business during Covid so jokes on them.

I agree with your video 100%! I’m in the same situation where I feel unappreciated for all my work and also in a toxic environment with a coworker that is jealous of my work performance. I’m a better employee when the coworker isn’t in the office. Management seems to ignore my concerns about this employee and I feel like I’m being treated differently. Finding another job seems easy but starting all over is what I dread the most.

One important reason was left out: you shall quit if you perform like a star, everyone appreciates and prises you and your boss, or company is taking it for granted not promoting you or increasing your salary for years… then move on. You are being taken aspdvantege of and manipulated to wait long for recognitions.

I finally took the leap and began applying for new jobs, one day later and I have a phone interview scheduled for a bank teller position. I knew it was time to leave my job when I had a full mental break down about work while not even there, that's when I knew it was over. I will hang in there until I find something new though so I have a flow of income coming in but I will not give up until I find a new one, I refuse to remain at this current job.

or when people with less qualifications and/or started after you are now promoted over you. Or your "promotion" is just a new job title with 1% pay increase and 20% more work

Thank you Jennifer, I just put my resignation on a company that I worked for 9 years, moving to another industry and to another role. I felt that I need a change (and I’m super scared) so I made my choice, I’ll miss my colleages and my team, but I feel that was the right thing to do.

Thank you for this video and all your content!

Growth and coast!!! This is such a good thing to consider. It’s the only way we’re going to make it to retirement. I’m on the older millennial spectrum and not ready for a mid life crisis but I am noticing I’m getting burnt out faster and faster. I just took a vacation for Christmas.., I’m ready for another one and even considering doing mini vacations every quarter.

Thank you Jennifer for helping better people’s lives; I have entered into coast phase. In IT it’s swim or sink. I got tired of putting in months of study to be stuck in endless /mindless meetings instead of doing the technical work. I have about six more years and I can get off the hamster wheel

It was a really tough first half of the year at my corporate office job, but I left to go back for schooling (licensed certificate) in the trades instead and enjoying the process now. Life's much better with the right challenges and engagement in things you're interested in, while too short to feel like you're stuck somewhere just because you can do the mundane and get paid for it. Completely worth the plunge so far!
