Eating Raw Trout Eggs (poor man's caviar)

I hate disposing fish eggs. So instead, I took at stab at eating them. That about sums it up.

Dude, you just wash in water and eat it. The roe has a bit of salty flavor. It pops in your mouth.

Would love to eat frozen fish roe (flying/tobiko/masago capelin/salmon).. but isn't there a risk of parasites that survive the typical freezer temps (0F)?

Do you know of any way to test to make sure it's safe?

Was it too salty? I think 1 cup salt to 4 cups of water is way too much salt. Where did you get the recipe?

I have caught many many trout over the last 35 years and never ate the eggs. That's just usually bait. Fishing tip. After you cut up the eggs into pieces let them sit in the fridge until they just start to smell a little funky. Fish on.

Can't say that I have ever had trout caviar, but I have had other species... one thing I picked up from my military service was an adoration for sushi.... now I'm curious if trout caviar taste as good at other species...

try again but look up a better recipe or eat stand alone. too much salt, cream cheese was a huge mistake. rits cracker is ok but saltine is better imo. then again, it may just not be something you like. good on you for giving it a try though
