This Coral Trout had parasites all over it. This is quite common for this species of fish and we have seen it a few times over the years.

As a commercial fisherman, I can confirm that it's a vile world down there. Literally everything is eating everything alive. The things I've seen put me off eating fish indefinitely, and I lived on fish prior. Word of advice for you all: Don't buy filleted fish without seeing it whole first. 😊

That’s a tongue-eating louse! I doesn’t it the fish, and fish don’t eat them. They enter through the fish’s gills, cut off circulation to the fish’s tongue until it FALLS OUT and replaces it’s tongue. It then takes nutrients from the fish’s food. (P.S even though it’s called a “louse” it’s actually an isopod, and does not bear any particular relation to head lice)
