The veneration offered by Roman Catholics to the Virgin Mary is called hyperdulia: so called because it is higher than that given to other saints, which is known as dulia, while the worship due to God alone is called latria. Only God is worshipped. The Virgin Mary is venerated and loved "blessed art thou amongst women" and "all nations shall call me blessed".

Hi Dr. Marshall, can you please find me in the Bible that saying we should or shouldn't pray to Virgin Mary? Is it sin & blasphemy to pray to Virgin Mary? Cause, in the Bible, we can & should only pray to God & or Jesus. No other mediator in between. No saints, no Mary. In the John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Please help explain 🙏

As a former Catholic, I used to give the same response. Nevertheless, Catholics worship Mary. I don’t understand how someone can read the Bible, and then turn around and still think that “praying to or venerating Mary” is okay. God alone is worthy!

Do I love my earthly mother? Yes. Did I worship her? No. Did I honor her? Not as much as I was commanded to. I don't get the stupidity of people sometimes.

Our Blessed Mother would be so offended if someone put her on an equal footing as her Beloved Son. Our Queen is a humble Queen and it is her total and complete humility that God so loves and wants us to love about her. Every grace we receive for our salvation comes through her immaculate heart as a radiant ray. Jesus, Her Son wills it so. Can someone please tell me where I can buy a duey Rheims?? They cost like 100 dollars on Amazon. And honestly idk about buying holy things on Amazon to begin with becuase I don't know where it's coming from and some crazy people will put curses on them.

I can't find any site or anywhere that sells the bible other than Amazon. Id prefer to buy from Canada otherwise it costs more for conversion if it's bought from America.
Please if anyone can answer my comment. I've been looking for the bible for awhile and I just can't afford 100 dollar possibly cursed bible on Amazon rn.

I hear what you are saying, Dr. Marshall, but unfortunately I have seen many, many Catholics elevate Mary up to co-redeemer status. I believe that there has to be more explanation and discussion to Catholics about this, especially when we are children learning the catechism.

Intellectually I understand what you're saying here, but why do I still feel so uncomfortable praying to Mary, especially the Salve Regina ("my hope, my sweetness, my life" seems crossing into latria)?
