With who her father is and seeing what her sister went through. I don't blame her, I wouldn't either.

Maybe because she was afraid of betrayals, wanted to keep the power to herself and didn't need a spouse to live happily. Some powerful and super-rich people chose to live alone as well

What I don’t understand is how Thomas Seymour did all that and Catherine Parr never seemed to notice. Catherine was known to be a loving and protective stepmother and Elizabeth was reportedly her favorite so how did this fall under her radar?

I’m sure she had lovers; therefore she didn’t need a husband. Marriage only made her child legitimate, but if she didn’t care to have one then it was best staying single.

I love how this channel looks at history along side mythology

In addition, there may have been some pleasure in knowing she was ending the Tudor dynasty. What sweet revenge over the father who killed her mother because she could not produce a male heir.

Rejected by her father, who blindly persued a male heir, she would ironically become one of the greatest rulers in English history.

King Henry the eighth was destined to be with Anne Boylen which is why queen Elizabeth was one of the best rulers, she had her fathers strength but her mother’s tact and charm. I find it very sad Anne was killed under the assumption she slept with her brother and was a witch. Obviously this wasn’t true or the court wouldn’t have put Elizabeth and her younger brother Henry on the throne.

She just didn't want to share the throne that's why.

look at the men in her life, terrible examples. she didn't want to turn over her power to any man and show weakness.

I think it’s easy to see why she wouldn’t marry because she couldn’t find a husband from her own nobles as this would create internal division as she’d be seen favoring one noble family over others and would cause tons of infighting. She also couldn’t marry a foreign prince because at that time most nations were Catholic and the church didn’t recognize Elizabeth as being legitimate, neither as a Queen or even a person as in the eyes of the Catholic Church her parents were never married as she was a “bastard.” She was limited in being able to find a foreign husband who would not only recognize her claim but also not bring their own Catholic agenda since she and her country were majority Protestants. She couldn’t loose the support of the English Protestants by marrying a Catholic and she also, after seeing how disastrous her older sisters marriage to Philip of Spain was, wouldn’t want to loose the support of her country by marrying a man whose priorities wouldn’t be on England and no one would want to sacrifice their men to fight in another nation’s conflict the way Mary supplied troops to Phillip for him to fight his wars against France. Elizabeth also would’ve known that under law any of her property and this power as monarch would be in her husband’s name and knowing how tenuous her hold on the throne (and in effect, her life) was she wouldn’t have wanted to anger her nobles by creating division, angering Protestants by marrying a Catholic and then angering everyone else with marriage to a foreigner with no loyalty to England and who would encourage her to fund his conflicts at the expense of English life and the royal treasury.

I appreciate they covered all possible reasons that would've factored into her singlehood rather than settling on one and saying "This is it."

I blame her father for the fact she stayed single

The marriage of Mary I was not short lived. They never divorced before she died. And Henry VIII did not lose Jane Seymour during Labour, but about two weeks later
